While the Delta boys were here they had some rumors of there own about the future of hanger 5 DFW. Seems Delta is putting in a 13 year bid for hng5. Possibly leasing bays 1 and 2 till bid comes through.

Because they are going to increase flights into DFW and Hanger space is limited throughout the US.They dumped DWH, and now want a long term lease from AA?...
Bigger question is why? Even combined with NWA, their operation is a shadow of what it was 10 years ago.

I don’t think it’s a rumor. Delta just expanded there MRO and is looking for dock space. AA wants out of MRO and Delta wants the work. AA just signed a 5 year deal with North American 2 months ago and now North American has signed a deal with Delta 2 months latter.
DL also just picked up a hangar in BOS...
<_< -------Bob if that's the case, why did AA let perfectly good hanger space go in MCI? They were geting it for almost nothing. ------ Or was that just another TWA thing? :huh:Thats true, AA was trying for that.
AA was trying to get a newer Hangar in BOS, they failed, Delta got it. So if there's a need for additional space why would they get rid of space they have in DFW?
Like I told the guys at JFK, We dont have the hangar because we have a B-check, we have a B-check because we have the Hangar. They've had that hangar for over 40 years and operations out of JFK have increased since then- not decreased. With the scarcity of hangars available and the volume of aircraft out there, Hangars are an assett.

<_< ------ Eric, if you care to check it, we have a number of "Revenue" flights into MCI! Unlike a curtain "Overhaul Base" that doesn't!Having a line hangar in MCI is useless. You need it where the planes are....
Hanger 5 has 2 bays with full docks 1 can hold a 767 and 757, 1 can hold 757 only. Planes cant be configured with winglets to use the docks. There are rumors of the docks being modified for winglerts but still no action has been taken. The rest of the hanger has 4 open bays depending on what type of aircraft you put in them. Lots of ramp space and blast fences. This hanger also has lots of room upstairs for shops and one end was once used for training by delta.True, but it'll still be ~35 flights/day.
How big is this hangar?
