Airport is starting runway as new fees hit passengers

Long-delayed plans for a third runway will go to the front burner this summer as Charlotte/Douglas International Airport imposes a new $3 fee on passengers and issues $215 million in revenue bonds for the project.

GSO has under construction a second duel 10,000â€￾ runway. GSO is centrally located and a short car ride from Charlotte, Raleigh Durham, Burlington, Winston Salem, Roanoke and Lynchburg. A LCC carriers dream! Fedex will be using it in the AM hours, but there's nothing to stop a LCC from using it all day. In GSO Delta and Airtran have been under cutting U's CLT fares for several years, stealing bussiness out of CLT.
