What's new

This one is for all my TWA friends!

I miss TWA like crazy, but wasn't very impressed with this video...there were some commercials we did around 97, "We want to be your airline," that are unparalleled in capturing what (at the time) was the new pride, hope for the future, and pioneering spirit of Twa. Bad cgi MD80 taking off from Lambert does'nt come close... imho.

<_< ------- I spent 33 years working for TWA, and take pride in my work, and in TWA!------ That being said, as I stated before, I will not have "TWA" carved into my tombstone! Live for today, not in the past!-----the failures of TWA's management, and greed, are the reasons TWA ultimately failed!------- And as other exTWAers, that now work for AA, have stated, the similarity with what went on at TWay then, and what's happening with AA now, is shocking!!!

I certainly do not "live in the past". However, TWA was part of my life for 40 years and I am VERY lucky to work with several former TWA f/as. They continue their excellent work ethic in another profession. The BOD sucked and senior mangt. made many bad decisions. That being said, those at the bottom had a lot of fun and I was able to support my family for many years. I hope AA learns the lesson we never learned...you CANNOT shrink your way to profitabiliy.

I'm really not surprised that this as turned into such a hate thread. When I watched the video MCI posted, I took it as a remembrance/tribute for all the TWA people.
Sadly, it also does not surprise me.

It is pathetic that you all cannot just let go (you know who you are).

With 500 plus airplanes coming in the next 5 yrs, I dont think shrinking is part of the plan. Growth, new hires and profits in our future. AA will have its day again! 10 yrs of laying low will pay off.

I really have no clue why the hatred between TWA & AA.

There really wasn't much animosity until some people from TWA started exhibiting an attitude of entitlement. This was by no means a merger of equals, yet there were some who still to this day argue that it should have been treated as one.

When People Express was bought out by Continental, we made up about the same percentage of employees as AA & TWA (20%). None of the animosity, because those who stayed on were simply glad to have continued employment. We knew where things were heading. A few pilots had to fight to keep a fence on the 747, but that was about it.
