I was not aware that the US drilled for oil. Exactly what oil company does the US government run? Point being that oil companies are drilling for oil to make money. Do you want to subsidize the oil companies even more than we are now? Selling it at a loss tends to be bad for business. OPEC could drop their production to keep prices up (they like to make money too) so pardon me if I do not think it is quite that easy.

I do not think threatening a Psycho with conflict is a good idea. To me the question is, is Crimea actually worth US solders lives? Personally, I do not think so. If Europe is concerned, let them put some skin in the game for a change. We can stand behind them. No need for the US to be in the forefront every time. We see how well it worked in Afghanistan and Iraq and ... the list is long.
Excuse me? On one hand your crying about the oil companies making money, and on the other, you ask about them selling their oil at a lose! Now, which is it? You can't have it both ways! But I'll ask anyway. What is wrong with American oil Companies making money? The oil supply out here is going to be bought, and used anyway, so why not have that revinue $$$ come to us instead of OPEC? Yes, they could cut theis production, but it's a new day now! Between the U.S. and Canada, we now have the potental resources to trump OPEC. What I've suggested would not put any U.S.troops on the ground. But I do agee with you and feel that Europe could be doing more.

You mean like the lie about WMD in Iraq?

Who fostered the lie?

Bush?

Both Houses?

World leaders?

It was proven there were WMD in Iraq.

“Bush Didn’t Lie, Even If Some People Did Die.”

I'm not crying about them making or losing money. I am just saying that the US does not drill for oil, independent companies do and they are not going to drill for a loss. They do not want the price of oil to drop just to punish Putin. Oil companies are multinational. I seriously doubt that they give a rats but about the US other than a market to sell oil in. Good luck in getting good them to play along with your scheme. .

Halabja chemical attack

The attack killed between 3,200 and 5,000 people and injured 7,000 to 10,000 more, most of them civilians.[1][2] Thousands more died ofcomplicationsdiseases, and birth defects in the years after the attack.[3] The incident, which has been officially defined as an act ofgenocide against the Kurdish people in Iraq,[4] was and still remains the largest chemical weapons attack directed against a civilian-populated area in history.[5

Guess using a gas that kill thousands, is not considered a WMD!

Kim Il sung has been at it for a quite a bit longer than Sadam was and what of it. How many US service people need to die before we stop sticking our nose in places?

Tree, Turn them lose, and watch how fast they'll start drilling! Obama has refused to open fedral lands to new drilling for years now! The oil is going to be produced, sold, and used, no matter what. So why not the U.S. the ones on the recieving end for a change? And if that should impact Putin's economy, so much the better!  The oil from the Canadian tar sands that would be transported through the Keystone pipeline, is now being loaded on trains, and trucks, and shiped to U.S. refineries throughout the gulf States. The tanker cars, and tucks from Canada, and North Dakota, are comming down by the hundreds everyday! The carbin footprint by those trains, and trucks, are far worse to the enviorment than zero through a pipeline, and the chances of an accident, much less!

And how many will die if Kim II decides to fire one of his atomic bottle rockets in our dIrection? Oh, I know he's not supposed to have one, yet! But what if they do, or have developed one that could reach us? What if Iran does the same? What if they decide to blow isreal off the face of the earth? ------- You say the same? So whats the plan? Sit tight until it does happen? That just might be too late!

The real reason Obama delayed the Keystone XL pipeline decision until after the 2014 election.

Your argument to allow more drilling was to reduce the cost of oil.  Most of what I have read says that oil has to stay at $100+ a barrel for the oil companies to be happy.  If the oil companies start producing here in the US, OPEC would drop their production to maintain the cost.  According to this Business Week article Canadian oil has to trade $65 to remain profitable and it seems to be stuck below that amount.  The article claims that the pipeline would be a temp fix to help get the oil cost UP it would soon max out capacity and the cycle would start over.

The article seems to indicate that the pipeline is a pipe dream in terms of any benefits.

Bush implied opening up Atlantic offshore and the world oil price plummeted some $9. You can argue until you're blue in the face he didn't.....the futures market is what took notice.
