By example, and surely not by raking in 850K while my company and it's people were twisting in the wind. Peddling a scorched Earth policy to labor while living the opposite is not the road I would take. Pious? Maybe, but I think it would be a heck of a lot more effective than what we're seeing now.

Just out of curiousity, what would you do/change?

These folks on this thread will try to put you on the spot. I tell you what! If I was Tilton and the cockroach pack I definetly wouldn't be telling people in the press that it would be 90 more days before a decision was made on the pension issue. I really don't think that they will have 90 days. Weidoff is probably wearing thin each time they return to ask for ANOTHER 30 day extension. Most of those guys in charge might be looking for a new job real soon. Be lucky next time in BK court if he doesn't appoint a trustee.

Why don't they just implement the lay-offs they have threatened, cancel the pensions if they are going to, and then get started on alienating labor AGAIN buy asking them to take more pay cuts like they have been talking about. So far, that's all management at UniTED has been.

ALL TALK AND VERY LITTLE ACTION. The longer they stay in BK, the harder it will be to survive it.

I feel for you all, they'll want more. Only way they can get anyone interested in outside investors is to take from the employees just like they are doing at USAIR. They will probably be filling the 1113 motions on Monday. And I suspect that UAL will do the same later on down the road.
 
Tilton/Brace et al do not have 90 days to 'decide the pension issue'.

And where are their banker friends, you know, the ones who were lining up to give UAL cash (backed by the ATSB) ---- for that matter, why would any smart money folks invest in such weak leaders saddled by old debt obligations?

Oh yeah, because of the high load factors and TED.

UA needs leaders, not managers. A Wilbur Ross guy.
