What's new

To sell or not to sell

YES...............
NO................

Hold off selling, the Yanks and Brits will agree on foreign investments very soon, so I believe BA will soon own 25%, of us and we'll own 25% of them. It's a win-win for everyone, and we could use the LHR equipment on upcoming Asian destinations. When the news hits the street the stock will move handsomely. But, if you really need the money for the stocking stuffers, then sell.

Just my opinion, what do I know.

That is definitley food for thought. But the removal of restrictions at LHR could have a negative effect on AMR and BA.

The thing that makes no sense to me...

I always understood that the restrictions at LHR were more sheer traffic volume than "turf protection"--like LGA. If that is true, I fail to see how any "open skies" agreement is going to create landing slots at LHR in an already tightly scheduled airport.

Forgettaboutit, under the agreement AA ceases flying to LHR, AA just sells the seat on BA, then pockets the money. AA then uses 777 elsewhere, like Asian routes, or Europe. Likewise BA, does the same stateside.

Of course Virgin and CAL, or DAL, may do likewise, but BA and AA, too much size. And, size does matter in this business, still,

Heck, what do I know anyway

If you're referring to stock, I'm holding out until it hits at least $25. If I'm wrong, oh well. It's not like I'm losing money that's in my pocket right now...

Jim's right. The only way that removal of restrictions under the EU agreement would hurt AA & BA is if it came with a clause which required slot divestiture, and I've heard nothing which would indicate that was in the cards.

For CO, DL, US, etc. to fly into LHR, they'd need to get their slots the same way that AA and UA did -- on the open market with cash.

And there are almost always carriers willing to sell slots at LHR.

Hopeful,

(For what it's worth), 60% of me says "Hold", 40% says Sell.

Anyway,
I heard tomorrow, that You were going to "Eat the Bird" !!!!!! 🙄 🙄

Happy Turkey Day !

NH/BB's

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, NH/BB's.

Does anyone remember when the AA/BA merger talk was the hot topic? it would have been approved had BA/AA conceded a couple of hundred flights a week in and out of LHR.

Maybe AA/BA mergia mania will surface again!

So if AA stops flying to LHR and simply sells tickets on BA explain to employees of AA whose services will no longer be required how its a "win -win" for everyone.

Hello, AMR needs to move into Asia big time, and like yesterday. The equiptment needed on these routes are currently being used on LHR.

Hey, what do I know.

<_< Hopeful---- Wake up! That's what this is all about! aa/BA put out sounding stories to gage public, and, or, political reaction to a potental merger!!!If all go'es well, we'll be singing "Hail to the Queen" both in London, and Dallas!!!!

AA won't be giving up anything to the Brits, it'll stay as American as Apple pie. That's why they'll have equal shares in each other.

The Bush-Blair team need a big win, more than ever now.

The 800 lbs Gorilla, becomes 1600 lbs, that's alot of King Kong, to have to go against.
