I don't know exactly how bright they are talking about but the idea of having two suns for a bit seems kind of neat. Nature seems to always have a trick or two left.

Super Nova

Only down side is they do not know when it will happen. Not sure I can stick around for a million years. I hope I don't miss it.

Im sure when it happens they will blame Bush or Palin or their long list of children who will succeed as being president. 😱

Just pray it doesn't do a gamma ray burst headed this way......

You realize whenever it happens, what you see today happened a very very long time ago in a galaxy far far away.

Yea, I know. If I remember tomorrow, I am going to see if I can figure out how far away this star is. It would be very cool to see a second sun in the sky if only for short time.

According to the article, the star is 640 light years away. I guess it could have happened already and we won't know about it for a while.

I was thinking it would be an event of cosmic proportions.

I think its Betelgeuse that causes false UFo sightings in winter.

The Ananokki supposedly hail from Orion.

Well heck, lets crank that space ship up and go visit. I always thought it would be kind of interesting to be frozen cryogenically and be brought back in a few hundred or so years to see what has happened. I think it is quite likely that with in the next several centuries we will be contacted by other life forms. I doubt we are alone in the universe. Statistically it does not make sense to me that we are an anomaly. They may not be carbon based or even recognizable by us but I just do not think we are alone.
