You are better off with no union than these crooks. Why not go with the IBT and join the Technicians?

TWU is rejected by CAL workers

It's a MOOT point, anyway.

Here's why.

DL CEO, Jerry Grinstein said UAL approached him to "do a deal" 18 months ago. He said "flatly" NO, and says DL's not Interested period.(now).

That CLEARLY means, that UAL will "do a deal" with....NOT AA, or NW, but CONTINENTAL !!!!!!!!!!

Since UAL ramp is IAM, THAT is the union that CO ground workers will end up in(And SOON) !!!

Maybe the rampers were trying to get some sort of seniority protection in the highly likely event of a merger! The no's were probably swayed by the profit sharing announcement and LK's promise to keep their best interest in mind if and when a merger was to occur.

OK, now you can contact the Teamsters. You could have them in place by Christmas 2007. Like I said you should get a union, the right one, not a company union like the TWU.

"Go with the IBT and JOIN with the technicians"? Wasn't it AMFA's main goal to separate themselves from the "coattail riding, holding us back" rampers?

Not the case at AA, except for a few ignorant remarks by the ignorant, most of us would like to see all of AA ground workers get out of the twu. In fact, some of our biggest fans in the dumping the twu were the rampers. The simple fact is that the twu is a management sponsored organization and has no place in organized labor for any workgroup.

Congrats CAL--now go get yourself a real union.

Enough of the ramp saw through the manipulation and lies of the organizers. These guys were clowns. These were mostly people we don't want to work with, much less have represent us.

CO is far from perfect. But a rational comparison of what we have versus other carriers shows there was absolutely nothing to gain from going TWU. Thankfully enough of us saw past the emotions of paycuts to realize that. For those of you who supported the TWU, let me suggest you take a breathe and try to understand the reason why the rest of us didn't vote - instead of attempting to shove your opinion down our throats.

Been hearing merger scares for all of my 23 years at Co. Other than the disasters caused by the 87 mergers, it's all been talk.

Why would NW allow such an alliance - since they have the veto power to stop it?

We're almost at 800 fligths at day at IAH and no signs of any slowdown in the growth. No one at CO is acting like we need UA.

AMFAs main goal is to get all the mechanics into one union. The concept of unifying a class and craft across the industry is valid,(its worked well for the pilots) but its also valid for other workers as well. Now that the IBT left the AFL-CIO there is an organization that has the means to unite the whole industry into one union, which is an even better idea,it only remains to be seen if they have the will. As far as "the coattail riding, holding us back rampers",some guys said that, others didnt. The fact is thats what we were told by our own union and the company. Many realized a long time ago that it was Tulsa that passed all the contracts for maintenance.

When Sonny Hall, the President of the TWU retired he bragged about how the twu saved him from being fired when he freely admitted that he should have been fired. According to Sonny "Thats when I learned what unionism is all about". Thats one of the problems with the TWU, they dont know what unionism is supposed to be all about. Its not supposed to be about protecting workers that should be fired, its about getting good workers fair compensation.

The TWU ATD is full of people like Sonny Hall. People who didnt work well when they were on the floor, people who were voted out of office, people who you wouldnt want to associate with because of their immoral behavior. They sit in appointed positions because they would never get there if the people they claim they represent where given a choice.

Congratulations to the Ramp workers at Continental, however dont form your opinions on Unionism by your experience with the TWU. You should get a union, but it should be part of a broader stategy to unite the workers of the whole industry so that our compensation is not the easiest means to a competitive edge.
