Rumor has it that they will try this tactic with airline customers and flight crews. If you need your reading light replaced, $5 will be the standard tip. Inop lav in first class; that will be $10 a head. We will also be soliciting tips from the flight crews, you know fixing an inop auto pilot will cost you $100 tip there captain.

Because at the twu they know, what they are unable or unwilling to negotiate, can always be made up by those they represent with tips. <_<

Can't believe we actually have to pay dues for this cr@p.

New ad campaign: Please tip your casino dealer

by Andy Vuong on February 29, 2008

Who cares if the house always wins. Don’t forget to tip your dealer!
Local 721 of the Gaming Division of the Transport Workers Union of America (TWU) will launch an marketing campaign on Monday to encourage the public to tip casino dealers.

“Most dealers rely on tips for the bulk of their income,â€￾ said TWU
International President James C. Little in a statement. “We represent dealers on the casino floor, at the bargaining table – that is clear. Now, we will be their voice to the public. Until now dealers lacked an association, union or spokesman that could educate the public about the need to tip.â€￾

TWU will unveil its new advertising campaign at a Las Vegas news conference. TWU says it represents dealers at Caesars Palace and at the Wynn casinos; other TWU representation elections for dealers are in progress in Las Vegas and across Nevada.

How much would be the tip for successfuly removing the most docile union in the airline industry from representing the mechanic and related group at AA?

The same amount as the last attempt, but the self satisfaction would out weigh any tip in my opinion.

Ten years older and none the wiser ! I wish I had taken the red pill in October 98 ! None of this would matter to me.Seems like one long bad dream to see the demise of us and AMFA ! Once you free a mind as old as ours it can't be reinserted into the matrix.Cheers 2010 is just around the corner AMFAMAN.

Well you certainly cant count on Jim Little and the TWU to negotiate a contract where you dont need "tips" or a second job to get by.

How many Casino dealers does the TWU represent? Probably not enough to pay for the ad campaign, so money that you pay to the International will be used to fund this campaign. So how does trying to get customers to tip more, instead of getting these workers better contracts, help us? If the TWU had a campaign attacking the employer for paying wages so low that their members had to rely on handouts from the customers that could be justified under the logic that "a rising tide lifts all boats".But, wouldnt a successful "tip campaign" let employers off the hook? Isnt the TWU doing a service for the employer by trying to get the consumer to pay wages directly? Doesnt the custom of tipping really help keep wages low? Is helping employers keep wages low a proper use of our dues?
