DOC,

Did you even bother to look at the current data? Versus stuff from 2004 and prior?

http://airconsumer.ost.dot.gov/reports/200...ry/0602atcr.pdf

While certainly UAL can improve, and should be striving too, its not like we are all that much different from SW.

For entire year 2005

Lost bags:
SW 4.25/ 1,000 pax
UA 4.28/

Oversales:
SW .69/10,000 pax
UA .48/

Flight Cancellations:
SW 1.2%
UA 1.8%

ON Time DOT (within 15 minutes of schedule):
SW 80.7 (fith overall)
UA 77.6 (8th)

Complaints:
SW .18/ 100,000 pax enplaned
UA 1.02/

So except for the complaint ratio (and hats off to SW for that, always been good to me when commutting) everyhting else is on par between each airline.

DC

PS Not a dig, just curious... but the SW flight from HOU-MSY (#3462) was 100% late for the month on December, Every flight!!! whats up with that? Not even one flight the entire month month made DOT? (and as a matter of discloser UA had a ORD-BDL flight that was late 88% of the time. that sucks too)
