First, isn't the US market deregulated? Any carrier can fly any city pair when they choose. Look at Allegiant: they change city pairs quarterly, it seems. Those 1000 city pairs have no bearing on anything. If DAL or UAL wants to fly them, they can. If they choose not to, that is not US/AA's fault.airwar thats a good question... id imagine that yes horton would have a say... but my own personel opin is that may be the govt would grant the blessing provided that both airlines give up lets say a combined 15% of the dc slots.. and open 1000 city pairs to other carriers such as virgin america wn b6 may be keep the usairways low fare advantage thing they have... just a guess on that last part it will be very interesting to hear wt response on this that was a very interesting article
pullup i love your suggestion it should be done now if not yesterday there!!! the way i read the article was that it sounds like the govt wants to settle with the companies to get the blessings... i could be wrong and if i am then so be it... but thats how i interpetted the article
I have a suggestion: Cancel those discount fares today that the DOJ is referencing. Raise all the fares out of DCA by 300%. Walkups pay 500%. And congressmen and especially DOJ employees get a special rate of a 1000% increase.
Let's not be the 'disruptor' and the 'discount fare leader' anymore. Ya wanna fly outta Worshington, ya gonna pay, G-Man!
And now after this short break, we'll resume our regularly scheduled program entitled: reality.
Cheers.
