Layoffs, service cuts and partial privatization of Port Authority routes seem all but certain after Allegheny County officials on Friday rejected a last-ditch concession offer by Amalgamated Transit Union Local 85 worth nearly $19 million.
The first meeting began at 8:15 a.m., about 12 hours after Onorato sent two "take-it-or-leave-it" concession proposals, McMahon said. Both proposals called for tripling or nearly tripling employees' pension contributions as well as health care, wage and work rule concessions worth millions of dollars.
