It’s my strong opinion that when the major labor unions of this country failed to stem Corporate America from outsourcing, at stopping the practice of hearing a non English speaking person answering the phone in every department of corporate America from complaint to employee benefit departments “once†owned by American workers, it was all but over.
After Corporate America stole the phone workers they went the next step and took a big part of manufacturing. While this was happening the labor leaders sent their members letters begging us to vote for Clinton, who along with Gore, those two pushed NAFTA and GATT through opening the flood gates to outsourcing. They made fun of the little man for the famous statement: “Giant sucking sound as jobs leave this country†he was right on top dead center accurate, it happened.
Now we have to compete with a global work force which does nothing but bring the American worker to the lowest common denominator while bringing up the third world countries living standards. Thanks Clinton. Thanks Gore for your final passing vote making it possible.
Now we have the unions fighting over bread crumbs trying to organize the small time places like Dicks where high benefits and wages would sink them.
Global, think Global and organize globally and until that happens welcome to the new world order where the working man works two and a half jobs to survive along with his wife and God help you if the major bread winner becomes disabled because the next step will be like the 1973 Movie, Soylent Green where suicide is the preferred method out of the misery.
Unions are a little past way late in trying to rectify what corporate America has accomplished, making big profits and paying CEO’s billions at the same time paying the people making it possible next to nothing and calling it, “just businessâ€.
Signing a union card will not change the big changes that have occurred over the last 30 years in this country, UNLESS EVERY SINGLE working man and women do it together, otherwise watch your living standard go down every year, watch the middle class go into extinction while the new kings arise who are called CEO’s, rock stars and sports heroes, the new Gods most people worship in this country paying little attention to the disappearing middle class who sporadically sign union cards out of desperation.
