Glenn F. Tilton, Chief Executive Officer
United Airlines
1200 E. Algonquin Rd.
Elk Grove Village, IL 60007
Dear Mr. Tilton:
As the duly-elected leaders of all of the organized employees of United Airlines, we welcome you to our Company and thank you for meeting with us today. We greatly appreciated your thoughtful comments.
The employees of this airline are anxious to achieve an out-of-court recovery, and we give you our commitment that we are ready to work with you in order to accomplish that result. We are interested in practical solutions designed to address the difficult situation in which we find ourselves. Those solutions should, in our view, be sufficient to give the Company access to the capital markets, either with or without an ATSB loan guarantee, thereby stabilizing the Company and giving it the time to address the many other difficult issues confronting it.
In that regard, we are all depending on you to provide new and dynamic leadership here at United, and to champion a business plan, both short and long-term, which all of the employees can support and which will enable our Company to resume its rightful place as the world''s airline of choice.
Thank you again for your willingness to join our Company in these challenging times. We hope to be able to provide you with our view of what a recovery plan should entail as soon as possible.
Very truly yours, (signed by the members of the United Airlines - Union Coalition)
Is this typical union rhetoric? Are the unions FINALLY committed to working together in a unified effort to develop an ERP plan of their own that possibly excludes the ATSB? Worth a try! [;)]

One can hope. It's interesting to note that now ALL the unions are asking for a business plan, not just AFA. It's about time! (start slingin', I'm ready!) hehehehe[] [] []

It's a positive start. Let's hope we can keep it up. But in this case, actions are going to speak much louder than words and sound bytes.
