SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- Hundreds of mechanics at San Francisco International will lose their jobs when United Airlines lays off 1,200 nationwide in January.

The fighting IBT was handed (by AMFA) a 20% outsource limit grievance in which the company exceeds this limit (even before the layoffs). The grievance has gone to arbitration and is now ignored by the IBT. One of the frame makers of this grievance is exIAM Shop Steward, exAMFA (SFO Point) Local9 President Joe Prisco, now an IBT Shop Steward (Union Guy N’Chit).

JMHO, the IBT=IAM are a bunch of mollycoddling liars. The UAL M&R whom voted in the ID-10T’s are as complicit in their ‘own’ demise as is the mishandling of the company.

Now that the IBT is ‘taking care of things’, one wonders what the heck they are taking care of.

I am about to become a dues objector. All I do is pay dues and get nothing for it.
They charge more than the IAM or AMFA and do less.

Too Bad, Soooooo Saddddd

Being an 'objector' is stupid at best.

If the 'membership' would have been involved and supported AMFA, WE 'all' would not be where you are today!!!

Now you 'Guys N'Gals' are stuck with it!
Suck it Up!

With the IBT, you can't change 'squat'!
You will also find out that you can not change 'unions' again as you once thought.

One point being 'who in the heck wants you?' ???

UAL M&R are a lazy, fickle, bunch of old women. ...

Good Luck to You and Yours!

Take Care,

I just don't care anymore. If the job goes away then so be it. I'm burned out.
I'm not in the position to go to union meetings. I have a hard time supporting
a union that put us at risk of losing all representation. I have only seen these
guys once. They didn't have a straight answer for any questions.

Once again. I don't care anymore. I will ride it out till it is over.

UT I guess you left the big U. Congrats. Smart move.

Hey GateMech,

I hear you and I can ‘at times’ be terse and unforgiving, please feel free to PM or email me for off line discussions.

I spent a lot of effort, time, and $$$ in support of AMFA because they are more democratic and ‘union’ oriented than any of the legacy unions. Certainly, there were some that berated the pay and benefits of others with their own self importance, but it was only a few (mostly Chicago and Boston… IMHO).

AMFA was blamed for the NWA debacle, yet most of these ‘blamers’ never spent a minute on the picket line or supported ‘their’ union! He## even Petrovsky, Mullan, etc… or any of their other lackeys (except for Mikey) cared about their ‘Brothers and Sisters’.

Now that ‘all’ that has been forewarned comes to fruition, all I hear is excuses and another card drive

Take Care and I wish You and Yours a 'VERY' Merry CHRISTmas,

Hey F4Fixer,

I do not believe that Joe is a ‘Moron’ and he has dedicated himself to “UNIONISM†more so than most M&R I have ever known. For you to pull a shot out of the dark with this insinuation, without at least providing some truth, is reprehensible.

Provide a ‘truism’ and allow it to be known before you ‘slander’ a known Person while you reside under a ‘nom de plume’.

As for the inference to whom would vote ‘anyone’ into an IBT Shop Steward position, I believe at this juncture, most run unopposed and win by default. I will leave the rest of my comments open to your retort.

I found this post on another site and felt it necessary to post it here for all to see.

It is a prime example of why we are sometimes our own worst enemy:

Default Overtime! Yee! Haa!
It was sad day at work Friday watching all the Mechanics being laid off checking out in dock 7 on swing shift.
Not more than 50 feet away from the check out area there was a constant stream of people signing up for weekend overtime. Right next to the sign up sheet were multi-sheet lists from the prior shifts of those who were working the weekend overtime.

These Mechanics being laid off often glanced toward the overtime signup/assignment board and you could feel the pain seen in their eyes. None of them reacted to the situation though I feel they had every right to. They all went through the check out process while maintaining their poise, dignity, and self respect even when faced with some of those who by their actions have shown a lack of respect to them.

To those being laid off I wish all the best. You were not just our coworkers you are also our friends.

To those working overtime this weekend........................................I just don't know what to say other than please take a moment on behalf of those being laid off and think about what you have done and perhaps what you may do differently in the future.

I believe this took place at the UAL/SFO MOC???

And, you expect a/c mechanics to be any different from those folks who loudly bemoan the outsourcing of American manufacturing jobs as they stroll the aisles of Wal-Mart? Everyone is ready to feel your pain, just not do anything to alleviate it--particularly if it costs them money.
