United is #2

One of my fellow workers got called into HR, his first thought was he was in deep doo doo, but that was not the case. United sends out surveys to employees, and my fellow worker filled out the survey, and HR wanted to talk to him about it. HR stated United management had 95% disapproval rating, he talked to her for over an hour, stating that one improvement would be having Continental Airlines management running United, she stated I heard that from other employees. Unfortunately HR = United management, I would bet this HR person has no clue how Continental runs it show.

I'm so happy taking the buyout. No more UAHell. Good luck to the rest of you folks who are still there. Hope things will turn around and United will be a better place to work for.

Not really. But I have more time now that I'm away from #2, LOL. It's a good thing cuz I sure don't miss mids.

I talked to a fellow employee today, he stated tomorrow will be his last day working at United, due to being furloughed. I stated I hope with a favorable ruling in the outsourcing arbitration hearing in March, (wishful thinking), United will have to bring back work that was outsourced, and bring back furloughed mechanics, have to wait and see. As far as United being worst company to work for, I feel the employees need to to take the reins and make United the best place to work, due to the company is not willing to spend the time or money, which they may not have, to make United 'the best place to work', how we do this I have no idea.

I wish everyone at the Lazy'U the best.
IMHO, outsourcing is a done deal and nothing will come back.
The problem with United is not the frontline people, never has been.
Most managers and directors are not inherently mean spirited either, they simply get an edict from upper management and do what they are told.
IMHO, the problem today is there is no ‘spirit’ or ‘soul’ with United today. The people that used to push back at seemingly misguided decisions no longer have the fight to voice their concerns. The end effect is, yea it’s stupid and makes no sense (business or otherwise) but we will eat this crap sandwich and not even ask for mayo to cover the taste.
The people have been demoralized to the point of not caring, and when you have employees that do not care about the business, the business will fail.
One of the ‘sad’ things is that everyone knows that business is bad and sacrifices have to be made (such as my job.. 😛 ) but it is the ‘little’ things that give employees pride and dignity.

I truly wish the best for United but I do not see them changing their policies to motivate their work force.

Here is the so called rumors going around. You may want to fix your last line to say hope things turn around and you all get to work for Continental........

RUMOR has it, and I stress the term RUMOR, that Continental is taking over some ground ops and ramp for United at some stations. The RUMOR is that Tilton has struck and under the table back room deal since labor is as mad as hell after bankruptcy and all of the bs associated with it and Tilton cutting himself those outrageous bonuses that he will slowly and quietly roll United into death mode and it will be a quick and quiet purchase of assets ONLY. I stress the term RUMOR, but a friend of mine at United says that she can see that happening. The airbus fleet is leased, the 757's are as old as dirt and they only have around 54-56 777's and a few 767's, the 747's are all getting very old and the 737's are being parked. Not a good sign. Denver is being downsized as well. I see Eastern all over again.

Good luck all.

Oh man, I felt that way at UAL for years. The people at UAL rock...but it's such a sick organization. Maybe CAL will come in and bring back the pride and spirit. I truly believe it's there in the people just waiting to be tapped into.

Good luck all.

I would think there would be some gradual merge with Continental. I do not know why it is OK for United to break the contract, but it is not OK for the mechanics to break the contract, (not that I am saying it is OK to break contracts, it's not). Mechanics at work say: 1) We have a contract that says, 10-89 and after, no layoffs; 2) If we go on strike, then another Northwest; and 3) the republican party is not going to help us - they are all for big business. I say that now that Obama is in office, **** the 1-24-09 layoffs. We need to hand carry that contract that says no more than 20% work will be outsourced, not counting overhauls, to the White House and present it to Obama, and tell him, or an aid to read it!!! Sad part if some United corporate person read this he would spit out his coffee all over his monitor laughing.

When was the last time you saw a United license plate frame or polo/tee shirt?

I have 4 dress shirts in my closet.
Don't know what to do with them now.
What's your size? ... 😛
