Update on Flight 718/June 16, 2011 (PHL‐FCO)

There is a big difference between making a proclamation of support for a union and the concept of DOH vs. intentionally making false claims about the suitability of an aircraft and downing it, as some on here claim. Seems a stretch for me that a person who has not had their seniority order alter would do that. Would you do it for relative position?

Join us with the facts oh wise one. Tell us what you KNOW about the incident.

BTW, you seemed to be in a hurry to get my replies to your questions last night, but I don't see any from you today.
The motivation is simple. She, like all east pilots, wants off of LOA93 before they retire and that isn't going to happen until USAPA and Management come to an agreement on section 22. Since USAPA isn't altering its position to accept the NIC, then Wells and others think that the safety campaign will actually create leverage with Management who will suddenly decide that DOH is worth the risk given the operational disruptions on the east. She wants the money that comes with a JCBA and is obviously willing to help USAPA out to get it.

Surely that is is a better way of evaluating her motivations than to believe she is a) incompetent or b ) mentally unstable. I've said it before, but pilots who are not being adversarial or insubordinate with the CP office are not escorted off property by security. It takes a special kind of attitude and mental state of mind for that to occur, especially with a WB captain.

I'm waiting Jim.

Guys, something stinks with this. Have any of you read the transcripts of the hearing in CLT where Captain Wells testified? Cactuspilot.com makes it very easy to find. I wonder why the company never cross examined Captain Wells? Her testimony is contrary to what is found on here, as posted by Mr Eagle. And Mr. Eagle, where did you get this and why would you post this on a public forum? Seems to be a violation of our corporate ethics guide. We have an assistant chief pilot suspended right now for providing company documents. But, back to your document, I have seen faults on Aurbus equipment that never showed up in a bite test. Did they pull the FDR and hear the crew saying they were shutting down the APU, because this makes no sense.

All this doesn't add up. Wells was not fired. Returned to duty. No comment from the company on why she was removed from duty.

I am with you on the feeling that something stinks. I cannot fathom why somebody would intentionally shut down the apu off the gate without engines running. Not being on the 330 I cannot speak with authority, but that story posted seems suspect.

But yes I have seen many times on the bus something happen and show on the ecam and not be recorded in the bite info. Guess we will have to see how this plays out.

Only if you are an east pilot. The westies are getting the rope...........

But you don't take sides...

Jim

Proof Jim, I'm waiting. The stink could come from both sides, I have no idea as I, unlike all the westicles that want to crucify her, WASN'T THERE!!!!

Maybe I should speak to your wife about a neurological evaluation as you seem to really be slipping. Maybe those fumes did get to you. Invite her when we get together for our little powwow over a Coke. When do you want to do it? Send me your address and I'll even come pick you guys up.

Jim

Why do you always have to be so antagonistic about everything? What is it that won't allow you to let go of all that dislike you have for those that haven't retired and are wanting to leave behind a career for those who come after and not just a "job"?

Seems you only question one side's version though.....

I've seen your retorts to anyone that questions that captain's or USAPA's version, however.

Forget about the coke. Just as I figured you didn't really mean it when you told our common friend that you were leaving this forum (you haven't) and didn't mean it when you posted that your were just here for a day this past Sunday (been here every day since), I figure you don't really want a friendly get-together but just an opportunity to release your bile in person.

Jim

Bashing a fellow airman is just not good form no matter what the politics and squabbles of the day may be. Not only that, but there's the old karma thing. I can still hear my dad, after something rightfully came back and bit me in the ass, telling me that 'you've gotta be careful how you go talking about people....'

There always has been and always will be a group of people like that. The ones who stand in the crew room and lecture a whole room full of pilots, who have the same experience and job they do, on how its done. The ones that teach technique as procedure and the only way it should be done. The internet is full of people who post on every subject there is and speak like they have inside knowledge about companies that they never worked for or professions that they never did.

The stories conflict, and one side seems plausible from what I have seen on the line, one side seems far fetched from what I have seen on the line. Which one is correct? Probably both sides have added their own spin to it. Will be interesting to see how this comes out.

Just so you union fools are clear she lied. There was no APU auto shutdown. She turned it off and then went basaltic when MX told her it was fine! It was a set up from the get go.
May not have been intentional but the fact remains she killed the APU prior to engine start. "Safety first, I'm on board but screw the checklists" right?
