Bring back Pacer NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

blah blah, blah... The whining from LCC employees is so embarrassing. Isn't it your job to figure out how to use the new system effectively, not to #### and moan about it like a three year old with a broken cookie?

It all re-affirms my decision to leave USAir (Y2K) for greater opportunity. I remember when I first joined, I tried to set forth some new initiatives in my department which were poo poo'ed by my near sided managers only to be adopted years later as SOP. I’ve never worked for a firm with so many incompetent people from top to bottom. There were a few shining stars, but most of them were self-made and looking for a way out too.

What's new here?

This place has been operating in Crisis Mode for the last 10 years!!!

Bring back Pacer or Sabre, Bring back Merlin.. Who ever thought Sceptre was a good idea should be fired.

There have been few if any well thought out positive things that have come out of the sandcastle since merger.
Lets see:
Shares
Sceptor
ac reconfigurations
mixing east and west routes creating possible crew and ac problems.

Can anyone find some good decisions that they have made?

Well I can think of at least one BIG one!!

This airline is making load of $$$$!!!!

The reason is that this senior mgmt.team despite everyone's b****ing here, knows how to make an airline consistantly profitable!!

When was the last time US employees can say that or that they felt secure in their futures???

Along with most employees in this biz, I am very dismayed about the cutbacks and layoffs and turmoil the industry has evolved into, but it is what it is!! Lets just try to work around it as best we can. Ehh?

It's hard to work around a res system that is simply the worst piece of crap in the industry and does nothing well except cause problems and screwups. Making money is definitely a great thing , but you need to give your frontline people the best tools available to do their job and shares isn't it. It is costing us untold millions because it it so ineffecient and cumbersome. We have been ranked at the bottom since res migration and regardless of what Tempe says about improvements we are still at the bottom month after month. They maybe making money but the are losing more than they know.

Most of the people on this board are stuck in the past. A high percentage of the items in the old USAir business plan lost money, and customer service was still poor, yet they insist on restoring these failed policies.

Since 95% of the profits come out of the east (old US), I wouldn't exactly say that those in Tempe can take too much credit.

OLD
A330 41/229 very comfortable
A320 16/126 plenty of fc/lots of room in coach , closets
A321 26/143 plenty of room all around ,transcon, closets
Sabre finest res system in world used by hundreds

NEW
A330 29/259 Coach seat nearly unbearable
A320 12/138 cramped all around no closets
A321 16/163? cramped,barely transcon , no closets
Shares 2nd rate system, only used by 1 or 2 others

These are just a few of the things that they have done and none of them are good. So where is the great decision making really happening? In any other industry these decisions would have cost someone their job , but not here ,. We praise them and give them a raise all the while degrading the reputation of the company and destroying it operationally.

The market decides if these are bad or good things, not some tired old employee stuck in the past. The market so far says "I don't care" (LF up and making $) yet some employees say this is awful! (as they cash there profit sharing check). 😛

I'm not sure I really want to be known as the airline that makes greyhound look like a first class operation. There is a reason why we rank at the bottom. I guess we are the "dollar store" of the airline industry.

Obviously two cents from someone who hasnt had to try to figure out the new system. A key word in your post is "effectively". We manage to get by with the crap they've given us, but I have to say it isnt very effective. Hence the rants. After 22 years and learning 5 different computer systems, many can adapt to anything. However, something that actually worked (even after you do the entry thats supposed to make something happen and it doesnt) would be a big help.
Things are so uneffective now that when you send a QIKFIX to let them know something is not working right, it shuts down your computer and you have to reboot it to continue working at that position. How "effective" is that?

It would be one thing to complain if the system actually worked. However it DOESN'T. Shares is far and way the biggest piece of crap system ever developed for an airline , and HP managemenmt CHOSE IT over the finest system in the industry , Hopeing that they might be able to ugrade it to match SABRE capability. That will never happen. As we already know they have neither the talent nor the brains to match what SABRE does now. And they knew it when they chose it. We are stuck with what they chose and it sucks. "They know the price of everything and the value of nothing" Does international availability work yet? I doubt it.Just another feather in their caps.

How difficult would it be to set another "res migration date" and convert *back* to SABRE? Are we "locked in" contract with SHARES? Would it cost too much to convert back? One would think that if all the majors are using it, we too would want to use it. What do Asian and European carriers use for their reservation systems? I'm sure not all of us are stuck in the past but if only "1 or 2 other airlines are using SHARES", that should say something. Has this issue been addressed in the townhall meetings to senior management? What was their response?
Not one station I have been to has been happy with SHARES...not that I ask, the agents let me know -as a non-rev----hopefully they don't vent on the customers.
