[P]Charlotte Observer wrote: About 30 people have shown interest, 10 have followed up, and two or three will show up next week to do real work, David Bronner, said in an interview Thursday. He said the airline wouldn't identify the potential bidders.[/P]
[P]Chip comments: The court provided 50 days for additional bidders that expires on November 14.[/P]
[P]Charlotte Observer wrote: I knew (the industry) would go down, mainly because of the Iraqi situation, Bronner said. The question is how far does it go down and how long does it stay there. The last time we had an Iraqi conflict, everything went into recession for 16 or 18 months, he said. But the key to US Airways was the labor negotiations, and getting all their financial plans in order.[/P]
[P]Chip comments: US Airways and its employees should work with David Bronner or TPG to prevent and unfriendly takeover by a corporate raider like Carl Icahn or Marvin Davis. Bronner said the double dip recession could last 16 to 18 months; therefore, additional cuts should last 16 to 18 months to weather the storm, if necessary.[/P]

How do we know if Dave is not a corporate raider? Employees should work with David B. or TPG....we already did....we made concessions and it's time for mgmt to stepup......how about if CS/FS just write a check for $16 bucks a day to US......maybe it's tax deductible since it's to a charity case!!!!!!

Chip comments: Gilbert, Siegel or Bronner are not responsible for the continued terrorist attacks, the double dip recession, oil rising to over $30 per barrel, air fares at 20 year lows, rising security costs, and the pending war with Iraq.

If anything, the climate for airlines has actually worsened since the ATSB application was conditionally approved. The ATSB is more likely to be harder on US now and that liquidity is essential to survive.

Chip asks: Do you think these issues have anything to do with the incredible airline loses reported this week? What are your options or business plan for US to continue to operate versus transition from Chapter 11 reorganization to Chapter 7 liquidation in short order?

Now it's time for management to step up. Up to what? This is pretty basic stuff. If the money is not coming in from pax and cargo revenue, there is no way it is going to go out into our pockets. Exactly what is it you people don't understand about what is happening to this industry? If people don't buy tickets, just how is it that ANY company will remain in business? And to buy time until the people buy tickets, we are in for some very difficult times regarding pay and work rules. It is just that simple. Regardless of how much we have given, you cannot be paid with money that is not coming in.
