How long will the government continue hammering the employees of US Airways ...... Just when you think we have turned the corner and over come all the obstacles caused by government mismanagement .... here they come again.

After losing 40% of our benefits package, and our retirement in BK .... Just when you thought we, our unions, would get a break under current administration. Here they come for our profit. All in the name of the consumer.

You know we are all just BIG BAD GREEDY, broke, AIRLINE PROFESSIONALS, out to screw our neighbors.

Fees and fares are the same thing ... or are they?

By Ben Mutzabaugh, USA TODAY

Spirit Airlines CEO Ben Baldanza, center, defends his airline's policy on fees at a House Aviation subcommittee hearing on Capitol Hill. Robert S. Rivkin, general counsel of the Transportation Department of Transportation, is to the left while Dave Ridley, an executive at Southwest Airlines, is to the right.

The subject of airline fees was the story of the day in the airline industry, with reports coming in from publications across the nation. That follows the release of a report from a federal watchdog on Wednesday, which came ahead of a Congressional hearing on the same subject.

USA TODAY: Airline fees make it hard to shop for best deal, report says

As you might expect, both the report -- from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) -- and the hearing put the airlines on the defensive regarding fees.

And, according to Politico.com, the feds' first counter-attack could come in the form of taxation.

Nothing wrong with taxing fees for unbundled services, the other stuff is where it could be problematic.

The government sees the airlines as a huge tax collecting machine .... I wish I had figures on how much of each "ticket" goes to taxes in one form or another. The employees of this industry have been devastated by government policies. Goverment completely controls it. Deregulated, my ###! During better times they tax it to death and in hard time they throw just enough cash at it to keep it in the air. Their policies control the airlines bottom line and offer aviation labor no hope for the future.

Every-time the airlines find a way to make a profit the government sweeps it away one way or another.

Don't look for any financial relief if you're an aviation employee .....
