US airways puts in a bid for Delta!

Front page article in thurs WSJ has the sentence. "American could take a look at Northwest Airlines."

And another article I read this morning mentions United possibly taking a look at Continental if all of this plays out. It sounds like this is all beginning to gain momentum afterall.

Wait until the frenzy gets heated and some small airline that managed to persuade Wall Street Bankers to lend them several billion puts in an offer for AA. Then the APFA can whine about being stapled to the bottom of a seniority list. After all, they have set legal precedent for it twice no matter what their contract says.

As much of a fantasy of yours this might be there is a big difference between the situation Delta is in compared to AA.

i'm a US employee... everyone here is already saying that delta would probably get D.O.H with or without a union... we won't do to them what aa did to twa. that was awful.

Are you original US Air or America West?

<_< ---- I hope your right! But maybe a little nieve! I know we (TWA) were!!!----- 😉

The difference between AA/twa and this propsed DL/US deal is that DL is not in immediate danger of shutting down for lack of cash. If all of DL's employees were union, I could not imagine them waiving their seniority protections like the twaers did. However, if I was a DL non-union employee, I would be concerned due to the duty of fair representation that US's unions owe their memberships.

The twa F/As got stapled. About half the twa pilots were partially dovetailed while the other half was placed at the bottom of the list. twa mechanic/ramp went to binding arbitration where they retained full seniority at their bases at the expense of nAAtives.

<_< ------ :bleh:

And what...Vomit

No, AA desperately wants the Asian route authorities and the NRT hub. Then, it will tweak and downsize the NRT hub over the next few years, claiming that the changes are needed to improve profitability. Next, it will downsize all intra-Asia flights to 757's, claiming that the flights are unprofitable. Finally, the NRT hub will turn into a "focus" city with only a handful of flight per day!

But, seriously, AA DOES want the Asian routes!
