Us Airways To Report Q! Results

Should be interesting. I look forward the the results. Particularly the comments regarding cash flow (although March 13 and March 31 aren't that far apart), as well as any comments about real structural change the company is intending to make.

$3.65 per share loss for quarter and $8.00 for the year.

OK.. They had about a $285MM net loss - excluding the huge reorganization gain from last year. So, we'll see how that winds up comparing.

Here is the First Call report dated 4/6/04 (pdf format):

Are there 57mil shares out...

So at loss of $3.65/share, thats a loss of $200mil for the quarter... that about right?

I guess thats about $450mil loss for the year...

I guess the good news is that almost every carrier in the past year or so has surprised the analysts on the upside... Delta's 1Q results were the first in a while that were worse than analysts expected.

funguy,

I think I've seen somewhere that there are 54 million shares or so outstanding, but could certainly be wrong.

Didn't DAL revise their 1Q forecast to reflect a larger loss in late Feb or early March to somewhere in the vicinity of $400 M. Seems they said fuel cost was the driving factor, but again I could be wrong.

You know, I vaguely recall something along those lines... But I am sure the analyst community would have accounted for that one way or another. Its very common for the analysts to revise a bunch of things immediately following the quarter, but prior to results... So I would think that they analysts accounted for whatever guidance DAL gave them, and were still surprised on the downside.

Expect the shorts to come out in droves.
You can't short a stock below $5/share. If ANYONE knows of a broker who will allow me to do this, let me know. I'd love to short a ton of UAL(AQ.OB) stock. It's currently trading in the $1.30 range, but will be worthless when UAL emerges from chap 11.
