US Express to end service to IPT

ABE is about 65 miles by ground to PHL not sure about air. i know by air its a quick 15 min trip by the DASH 8 vs an hr and 20 min by ground We have 5 phl and 3 clt flights that scary knowing IPT has 5 to phl who knows what will happen

RDG is less than 50 miles from PHL....maybe that's why it has no service.....
RDG to the Airport is about 66 Miles. And that drive can be worse than flying or going thru security. You can never rely on the time, it can take 75 minutes on a good day and well longer than that on any bad day, which there are alot more bad days than good by far.
They compare RDG with Lancaster in Population, but they forget, Lancaster is 1/2 Amish. They do not fly or even drive a car. I know me beating down on RDG getting service is futile, but if IPT can have 5 flights, RDG would do alot better than IPT. Or AOO, DUB.

One possible reason for RDG not having service is ABE and RDG are virtually equal distance from PHL and truth is the drive from RDG to ABE is not bad .

No idea what goes on in Tempe's mind, just a thought
what is IPT anyway? Wendy's doesnt make us use city codes, all I know how to do is change the fryer and count coins.

I dont know though, ABE is even closer than RDG I think, and it has plenty of flights to PHL. MDT is pretty close too...

I think AA is pulling out of MDT soon, so I wouldn't be surprised if US reduces there as well. My family lives near SCE, and I worry that they will soon have to just drive to Phl to fly.

There are also at least 4 Wendy's.
Actually, only three. The one that the wendy's website lists as a fourth is at least a 30 minute drive from anywhere in Williamsport and the people there generally don't drive that far.

IPT Closing....that's sad news.

I just hope the Brain Trust in Tempe that handles the airline's schedule doesn't switch the P & I around !!

..a whole lot of commuters would be in BIG trouble...

And listen, don't think something like that can't happen in Tempe. Rumor has it that we are short Italian LODO"S( foreign languarge speaking flight attedants) this summer and have too many French speaking LODO's because the Brainiac in Tempe who decides on staffing levels( I forget his name) thought that Venice was in France!!! 😱

At first I thought "no way"...but after seeing what Tempe has done recently, I truly believe it happened!!

IPT = Williamsport, PA home of the Little League World Series. Millions of hardwood trees, thousands of deer and some people too. population of 29,500 (1999),

There are also at least 4 Wendy's.
Wendy's just got bought out by Arby's about two months ago.

RDG actually is larger in Population than Harrisburg and the 5th largest City in PA. Reading is just a difficult place to get to or leave from. Only limited Bus service to NYC, and scarcer to Philadelphia. Buses break down daily on those routes. Thanks to Conrail dissolving train service from Reading.

I hope they keep service to AVP (Scranton). Our flights are always full, at least the ones im on. If they left AVP, I'd be forced to use SWF - It is the next most logical airport for Northeast PA. 🙁 I think we're ok tho. We're actually pretty populated in NEPA. Reading is 5th, Scranton is 6th.

Piedmont is discontinuing MDT-PIT service in October, a total of 2 roundtrips daily. I would not be surprised to see a reduction in MDT-PHL by 1 or 2 flights, and a complete loss of service MDT-CLT. The problem with MDT is that PHL is too close, and it costs a lot of $$$ to subsidize connecting service through the hubs.

Joe:

You got it backwards. Arby's bought Wendy's. That's significant because Wendy's used to own Rax Roast Beef which was a competitor to Arby's, but for some reason, they could never integrate the two successfully. Now, it will be up to the Arby's folks to finally make the transition work. It would actually be really good to see a decent mix of both menus available in each restaurant.

I recognize this has nothing to do with US Airways service to RDG, but it may help Intl Shannon with her future ladder climbing within the Arby's corporate entity.

I think I was right, just worded in a different way. Wendy's was bought out by Arby's. But that is OK, I get simpler stuff mixed up all the time.
