If you get the chance, call United's code-a-phone today before they change the message. The phone number is 800-EYE-ON-UA.

For those speculating on a potential CEO if a deal happens between US & HP, I believe it will be either Bruce Ashby or Doug Parker. The creditors will likely have a big say in this.

Which message Tilton's or this North American Sales spiel?

A merger between UA/US/HP won't happen - even under failing firm review, the DOJ and DOT would gleefully place "DENIED" stamps all over such a proposal.

Ah. Our other resident expert has spoken. We can all quit speculating now. The merger will not happen.

BTW, how was class this morning. You're out early.

Just as a clarification, I was only referring to a three-way deal between UA/US/HP. A US/HP deal would depend mostly on whether GECAS wants to have an extra couple years' breathing room before needing to place a couple hundred birds post haste.

Ah. And you surmised all of this from a couple of news articles. Your powers of discernment are as good if not better than our other resident expert. Of course I'm sure that like a certain pilot here, you have daily conversations with Dr. Bonehead

Just remember folks you read it here first.

HP's interest in US could also prompt (as silly as it may seem) a semi bidding war over US.......my, how the screw turns

I think it's gone...didn't hear it. What did it say?

The message gave detailed reports on each union and the S.1113(e) and S.1113© process for the AFA, the S.1113© process for the IAM & AMFA, the four defined benefit pension plan terminations, and the PBGC opposing in court United's pension actions.

The message also addressed other court actions in preparation for the May 11 trial against all of the labor groups, AFA having the right to terminate their new contract, and actions taken by the PBGC against the company.

My point is did US Airways and GE move away from a deal with United due to the Chicago-based airlines labor "turmoil"?

The entire industry situation is "bad news" for every legacy carrier employee and I wonder why US Airways senior management has shifted its focus to America West since Glenn Titlton said he wants United to merge with another airline.

LMAO, that's like some 350 lb trailer trash bimbo 'moving away" from her plans to marry Brad Pitt because she now thinks he has a problem keeping his pants zipped. U ain't "all that". What makes you think U was ever a serious target for UAL (post 2001)? U changes the business model. It no longers fit's with UAL's. You're delusional. U's senior management "shifted focus" to ANYONE WITH A DIME TO SPEND. They are merely trying to survive the summer. 🙄 . If it goes through, let me know how being junior to a 2000 newhire works for you!

Oh, and in case you forgot, you are not an UAL employee. You never will be. What's with your facination with anything Glenn Tilton says? What's with the constant calling of the UAL employee line? If you want to fly the 400 so bad, you'll have to go Expat. I hear they need some pilots for the Haj. 😛

Wall Street's initial feelings on the AW/US merger talk is in - AW down about 10% and US up about 30%.

"Merrill Lynch and Calyon Securities downgraded America West stock after the report. The challenges of consolidation between any carriers are considerable in the airline industry, analysts noted"

Here's an article:

Skeptics have US Air-America West say

Bear,

Get it right, a Section 1113 c, is for a total contract abrogation, which means the nine steps for a abrogation would need to happen before that can occur.

Meaning formal negoiations between both parties.

That "trailer trash bimbo" owns an awful lot of prime real estate in the northeast. 😛

The driving force in the M&A talk is GE and to a lessor extent the ATSB. Bronner & Lakefield met with GE last Thursday and America West officials met with the ATSB last Friday.

It's my understanding the ATSB, GE, and US Airways's creditor's committee supports the potential US Airways-America West merger. In addition, I believe the bankruptcy court would too. The ATSB has broad shaping powers per the OMB guidelines and is made up of three parties: the DOT, DOJ, and the Federal Reserve, thus the government likely would not object to the corporate combination.

In regard to United, will there be new labor agreements like at US Airways or will labor "tear" the company apart?
