Valujet Fleet At Shutdown

I remember that they grew so fast that they had at least 3 fleet types including the workhorse DC9-30, and they also had series 10, 50 and the MD-80. What were the total number of non series 30 aircraft in the fleet at the shutdown, and did the FAA's decree on a signle fleet type expire when the company bought AirTran?
 
I'm not sure of the exact numbers but I believe at the peak ValuJet operated about 50 DC-9-30s, 4 DC-9-20s and only two MD-80s. There were more -80s and -30s on order but never taken up. ValuJet never had DC-9-50s.
 
The 1996 "jp airline-fleets" reference book, which went to press in April of '96--just a month before the Mother's Day crash--lists four -20s and four -80s in service. A fifth -80 was scheduled for delivery in June (ex-Balair), so whether that was taken up or not I'm not sure. They also were operating 45 -30s, with a 46th scheduled for delivery (ex-BMI) in May.

I remember Lewis Jordan saying that by the turn of the century, they had hoped to be operating DC9-20, 30, MD80, and MD95 Aircraft.

Either way, that airline was headed nowhere, as Robert Priddy (or Prickhole) was once quoted as saying "If I could get rid of flight attendants and put coke machines on the planes, I would."
