With Virgin America coming into SFO, does anyone know what UA plans are for dealing with the added competition? From what I can make out from the website, the VX product is going to be superior to the UA product. Of course, the limited number of dentitions may hinder pax from selecting UA (business travelers with strong ties to the FF program for example).

Any news ? Ideas?

Well, if they're underpaying all of their employees like they are their pilots, they'll have at least a 30% cost advantage on us from a labor standpoint. There's nothing like discount labor to help subsidize a bottom line.

Well, ...Sir Richard(BRANSON), is a BRUTALLY TOUGH competitor, who would (in the world of ATTACK DOGS), be like a 500 lb Pit Bull(Virgin).. to a Cocker Spanial(WN) !

And we all know how tough WN can be !!

IMHO, "he's" to be given a WIDE BERTH !!

From a former AAers standpoint(me), I'm glad he set up shop in SFO, instead of DFW !!

Yeah, that is correct NHBB, they would be even farther superior to AA than UAL, and all those super 80's - However their innaguaral route is SFO-JFK and that is an AA and UAL flight as well as BOS and DFW and ORD, trust me AA will Definitely suffer as well. But, you know it doesn't matter about tvs and all that stuff when there is a cheaper ticket, 95% of the people in this country will pick the cheaper ticket. For instance take a look at JetBlue, they have posted two years of losses and everyone thought they were kitty cats meow, now it is a different ball game, and branson does have alot of clout, but supposedly not in this airline (i'll believe it when i see it) and he doesnt like to lose money. The US is totally different from the UK and Australia - it will be interesting indeed!!

I agree, that Virgin to DFW could be very problematic, BUT, VIRGIN going from SFO, to anywhere else, IS much MORE problematic to UAL !!

Bottom line, VIRGIN is WORSE ($$), for UAL than AA.

United will do just fine. We are focused on our customer and provide a superior product (that the flying populace does not care about).
The KERP is working very well.

😛
