I was informed today by a representative from the State of Pa, that all voluntary furloughed flight attendant unemployment claims submitted by USAir flight attendants, are not being automatically aprroved as in the past. Now each new claim must be submitted to an adjudication officer who will offer a final determination. Anyone else having this issue?

Isnt it amazing how the rule's CHANGE?

They make them up as they go..

Amazing...

I am not sure that US Air can change that can they? I am currently a furloughed ramp/ops agent and collecting full unemployment. I think that the State of Pa would not allow changes to be made but I could be wrong.

I don't think it is US, but the State of PA that is forcing each claim to the adjudication officer.

Not to change the subject but I notice that US-West has openings for fleet service and CSR's - mostly out west but some in common cities. Wonder if any thought has been given to letting furloughed folks on the East side have those jobs instead of hiring off the street?

It is my understanding that it is the State of PA and not USAir requiring the adjudication.

UPDATE

September 20, 2005

The Appeals of the Unemployment Claim heard August 29, 2005 in Raleigh in front of the full Commission has been received today. The decision was a favorable decision, we won. There is an appeal process in which the Company can appeal. I will be in contact with our Attorney, Mike Okun, and will post further information on the favorable decision as we are able.

Company hired a third party vendor called UTCA. They are writing "voluntary quit", instead of voluntary furlough or furlough. This is causing a rise to the denial which violates our contract.

We now have to grieve this which will take a couple of months. By that time, many f/as will find themselves in some financial trouble. This was a deception on mangement's part and they will not ell the UTCA vendors to stop this practice.

This could destroy the VFLR program which means it will make it much more difficult for the co. to balance the population of workers for this merger.

Their call.

If these f/as are denied, we seek their job return even if they spent the $10,000.

This should just burn AWA managment to no end. This is the type of U managment they hired on. No one can make a decision or are too intimidated to do the right thing.

No peace for labor. The war continues, merger or no merger.

No difference on our end.

yes, the job openings listed are open for all... I am just wondering if would affect the seniority of the hiree..
They might want to look into that.

The company protested the claim of all the EO people as well, at least several people I know.
The state sent back paperwork saying the agent quit voluntarily. I don't know of anyone who took the EO from Pit res that did not get unemployment and it wasn't too much of a problem to resolve. Seemed like it was just routine paperwork.
