As The airlines start making money they will keep bashing you down as long as they have a Republican in the white House.

This is an example of how low they are.........

Republican leaders are willing to allow the first minimum wage increase in a decade but only if it's coupled with a cut in inheritance taxes on multimillion-dollar estates, lawmakers said Friday.

wonder how they would react if all unions of all companies had aheullva a strike one day. That would have to be a crippling affect on the country i would imagine. May be that would force a change in the republicans. I think not!

What are we - French?

And what does this legislation have to do with US Airways?

And how exactly would crippling the country's economy help anyone???????

I was wondering the same thing.

Ill bet The American Idols visiting The Pres today in the Oval Office were not bashing.

While I agree that this topic has nothing specifically to do with US Airways. The GOP's latest move on this issue is nothing short of IMMORAL. While the "Paris Hilton tax" has been reduced several times over the last decade, the minimum wage hasn't been increased once during this period.

To insist that the richest 0.5% of the population get ANOTHER tax cut for income they did nothing to earn (only by birth) before considering a wage increase for the poorest workers in the nation tells you all you need to about the current leadership on Capitol Hill -- and in the White House, for that matter.

And what do the French have to do with USAirways? Grow up, as I see it they are the bright ones letting us spend ....what 300 to 500 BILLION dollars and close to 3000 US Soldiers fighting in Iraq, oh waite but Osama is in....Afgh...Pak...Sau, ahh forget it

Make a point.
The point is that having all union workers go on strike for one day would accomplish absolutely nothing.

I wonder if the American Idol finalists had the choice to refuse the visit, or if their contract with the show required they visit the prez? 😀

Bargaining power when negotiating that is why you strike or thread. Are you that.....

Actually, the minimum wage law is immoral. If I am willing to work for the wages that you offer, I should be able to accept that. The government should not force businesses to pay higher wages than people are willing to work for.

There is nothing wrong with an entry level wage. When you first take a job, you may be getting paid more than what your skills are worth. Most people making the minimum wage are teenagers paying for their cell phones and car insurance.

Raising the minimum wage can cause job loss. An employer can not afford to pay more for a worker or workers than the cost he can pass on to the consumer. He will pay fewer people who are more productive to perform the same work.

On the other hand, very few people work for the minimum wage anyway. Most employers have to pay more than that to attract employees. Why else would McDonald's and BK be paying $7 or more to start in a lot of the country.

The biggest problem with the minimum wage is this: If the government can set a minimum wage, what is to stop them from setting a maximum wage?

Brian,
Minimum wage law immoral? If you follow that idea to its logical conclusion then indentured servitude and possibly even slavery are morally defensible. After all, what's wrong with persuading/cajoling/coercing people to work for nothing???

The argument that only high school or college kids work for minimum wage is fallacious and is not supported by many statistical analyses that have been done on this very subject. Take some time to read about it.

It's a long standing GOP line that raising the minimum wage costs jobs. In fact, on each occasion since the minimum wage was raised from $3.35/hour, jobs have actually increased in the U.S. History has simply proven this argument to be wrong.

Regarding the biggest problem, I fail to see the logic. I also fail to see any evidence that the government has or will ever attempt to set a maximum wage. I'm sure there are a few CEOs out there who will protect us all from that fate!

Never happen. We have no problem with an athlete making $25 million a year or an actor making $20 million a picture,or corporate CEO's driving companies into the ground and still skating away with hundreds of millions in retirement incentives.

Raising the minimum wage actually hurts businesses, and it hurts those who are working at a minimium age level because it reduces the number of jobs out there.

Ask any respected economist, its very simple math.

If you don't like your job or pay, get a better one and quit whining.
