What's new

Welcome Back to Work Mark Batschelet and Will Shirley

I have a new respect for AMFA... too bad more airline unions don't take this approach. Most of the trades I've been around try to police their own, and it helps keep their reputation from becoming that of the SEIU, IAM and UAW...

Maybe now you get it.

These two had to pay Seham's fees out of their own pockets? Won't the worthless union pay to represent its members? Or did the TWU offer some incompetent representation? You guys need to cast off that worthless union.

I hope that the management at AFW that allowed this nonsense to go on for so long is hitting the street as AFW is shut down.

You are correct. It is up to the Company to terminate their employment. Everyone of the Company witnesses violated AA company Regs. At least 3: rules 16, 32 and 34. Company witnesses, it seems, are never governed by their own rules and regs.

FWAA
Our local's executive board has advocates that arbitrate grievances. It is up to each individual local to decide who will arbitrate cases. They can choose to hire labor attorneys to arbitrate termination cases or the locals may decide to arbitrate the cases themselves. Our local chose the later. Our local paid for all arbitration expenses except those incurred by the attorney. Mark and Will paid for the attorney out of their own pockets. This was a huge expense for 2 individuals with no income and shallow pockets. Thanks to AMFA Local 11, whenever they needed to conduct business with Lee Seham, they tried to scheduled Lee so that it paired up when he needed to meet with Mark and Will and the Union witnesses. This saved Mark and Will a substantial amount of money. Mark and Will chose the expense of the attorney because they felt our local did not have the expertise to handle a case of this magnitude. Good thing for them that they did hire Lee because they were re-instated with full back pay and no disciplinary action. I do not believe our local could have or would have represented them to the magnitude that Lee Seham did.

As for getting rid of the TWU, as soon as we are given the chance to vote for another union I believe they will be voted out.

Here is the website again if anyone would like to read the decision Batschelet et al. http://www.ssmplaw.com

I've read their decision a few times. This is a question for anyone who has read the decision and for anyone in a leadership role. Will this decision have any weight or bearing in favor of our Union members that are being falsley accused of something since the Company has decided not to discipline any of the Company witnesses that violated AA rules and regs 16, 32, 34 and maybe more ( not sure which ones ) ? To me, it seems the Company condones such behavior if it is in their interest to do so.

No chance...management involved are all still in place

I notice that neither the twu nor the teamsters welcomed the two guys back to active employment at AA.

I suppose that there is a lesson here.

Unfortunately the local at afw is called the bubba club. If you are a charter member you get top notch representation. If your not in the club you screw you your on your own. Been there and done that at the rock. The best part are the clowns that brought people up on charges for pushing amfa are now handing out amfa cards!

The 2 supervisors that are in charge of the Rolls Royce paint shop are still in the same position. The 2 HR representatives are still in HR but are now located at DWH.

Who are the people that brought people up on charges and are now handing out AMFA cards? Understand if you will not give names.

Sign those AMFA cards and read the Batschelet et al at http://www.ssplaw.com

Arbitrator Hill told one supervisor during the hearing " Let me give you some advice. When an employee tells you he's being assaulted do not tell him to stay out of his way." This is in the transcript. Not in the decision. I was given the opportunity by Mark and Will to read the transcript.

I thought the same thing. I guess since Mark and Will did not use the TWU their return to work with full back pay, no disciplinary action and 3 weeks vacation just returned to their 2012 vacation bank does not compare to the TWU's arbitration prowess of mostly return to work with a career decision or termination upheld.

Difference is with the trades the company goes to the Union and says "I need X guys", with most other unions the company says, "I hired this guy".

Why do I keep getting a strange "feeling, that if "Hugo" was at JFK, he would have been 'found' in a DAZED condition, walking somewhere along Rockaway Blvd, not sure where he was, or how he got there ?

And more importantly, this 'might have occured 1 1/2 - 2 years Ago !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then you wake up and he is still here along with his 2 cohorts and management that allowed such behavior and our local still has him as a shop steward.
