What A Screwd Up Place

There is no way I could start to do justice to how bad Charlotte was screwed up yesterday. It's my understanding that during the day 2 bag belts broke as well as short staffing resulting in thousands of bags missing the flights. There were many carts on hand of "just" outbound bags to the islands. These people starting their vacations & it's anybodys guess if & when they will get their luggage.
Now who's fault is all this ? I'm sure Corporate will blame it on the city so they can get more money instead of own up to the problem that there are more flights & luggage than the bag belts can handle.
Also there is still a major staff shortage nothing being done. It is really messed up.

Regarding the shortage. Maybe I misread somewhere, but most or maybe just IAM, not sure, have a new sick policy in place. It's either no pay for first few sick days or 50% of pay. My question -Since July 4th is consider one of your very few paid holidays, will the incentive be to call off sick and just run with the 8 hours of holiday pay or show to work for a company that seems not to care one way or the other....... ?

When I was with usair in abe, i understood that as of Jan of 2005, the new sick policy was if you are out the first day-it is no pay, second, third, fourth and may be the fifth are 50%pay. as for the holidays, i think it was/is new years, martin luther king, labor day, thanksgiving, christmas and the day after thanksgiving. i could be wron on some of them but i think i m pretty close to it. all hol payis just time and a half.

I do believe for some groups tomorrow is a PAID Holiday. Thanks for the clarification on the sick policy. I do believe the first day is without pay so therefore, what would it matter to some to call off sick and still take home a regular paycheck for the week?

Well Well Well

Just another bright and shining example of the "Business Acumen" that just flows from the walls of CCY in buckets.

With all of that "Business Acumen" don't you find it frightening just how bad it would be if they ever got stupid.

Actually I heard a rumor that Stu Pidasso was recently promoted to the job of station manager in PHL. Can anyone provide confirmation? I think Stu Pidasso was the Manager on duty when we visited the Rez Center in PIT. Must have got a raise, perhaps a bonus????

There is only one male manager in Pit his name is Bob, not Stu.

Hey, Bob, I had to look at it twice!! Can't tell we are brain-dead from the past weeks weather/delays/cancellation/mexico/manila/bags problems can you? Just think how much better the outsourced offices will be once they get the hang of it!
Have a safe and happy 4th.. remember we appreciate all our FFOCUS (cockroaches) !!
Noname for obvious reasons!!

Someone is crying wolf. Your deliberate attempt at portraying the ATO yesterday is very disingenuous. You don’t have the facts and the operations went as expected for a busy holiday weekend. I didn’t read any mention about the TSA involvement yesterday either. The staffing levels are fine when everyone shows up for work. Don’t let the facts get in the way.

(YEA, WE ONLY SCREWED A FEW HUNDERD PEOPLE) I didn’t read any mention about the TSA involvement yesterday either. (SO ARE YOU SAYING THEIR WAS A PROBLEM?)The staffing levels are fine when everyone shows up for work.(AND YOU DIDNT EXPECT A HIGHER NUMBER OF SICK CALLS?) Don’t let the facts get in the way.(HOW ABOUT THE TRUTH)

Saturdays at the ATO have been hell since Memorial Day. Customers have been screwed by the idiot puppet mangers who have no clue how to mangage.(I'll bet half the CLT managers dont even a college degree or even attended college) No proactive steps have been taken to resolve the staffing issues on Saturdays. (IE: call in extra help, adjust start times, make good use of the manpower you have). Customers are alienated daily & hourly. I really dont think anyone cares. Its beginning to show among the frontline employees also. (a direct reflection of ineffective management).

You just better be glad the tv news didn't get hold of yesterday. There you go blaming the employees again.

While BeSafe may have exaggerated the problem a bit - at least he didn't bury his head in the sand and say there was no problem. The bag belt to one of the concourses did break down for a period of time and did cause bag issues.

Get your head out of the bunker and stop telling Half Truths.

Yeah right. That is why it took me over 45 minutes to check in on Friday in CLT and there was ONLY about 10 people in front of me. (Not one sigle kiosk was working in the first class area) That is why I had a gate agent tell me how many people were on duty and working the counter first thing on Friday morning and how long the check in lines were. I understand at one point they were many hundred long. Who's fault was it that the counter WAS NOT staffed for the holiday loads?

Oh yeah and I loved all of the new electronic signs in the gate areas. Of course not one of them was working and the agents had to hand right on a peice of paper where the flight was going. Which one of your buddies got that contract? Make sure you pass along how well they were working to AL. What a bunch of Bozo'z.

You guys don't get it. Try getting out and seeing for yourself how this airline is being run rather than checking in from the golf course. Try running the this place for change before there is NOTHING left to run.

I can not explain how much contempt I have for those in CCY.

As a side note I thought my wife's comments on US were this past week were very telling. She seldom flies without me along, but this past week she and my daughter flew together and by themselves. Now I must preface the posting with these comments. She has no idea of what roaches are, or ffocus, or anything about lipstick other than wearing it.

She could not believe how filthy PHL was. She could not believe how screwed up the operations seamed to be. She lost her luggage in the PHL tranfer, but they did show up almost 24 hours later. She couldn't believe that no one in baggage service could understand english. And last but not least she could not believe how helpful every employeed she met was. She specifically mention about three different people who went above and beyond, and she made the comment that if it had not been for those three or four people she would NEVER fly US again..

To those who helped my family, THANK YOU. To the those in CCY, DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT YOU ON THE WAY OUT!!!!!!

Not really. It was a last minute trip to be with my dad who had an unexpected medical issue. I was on a fly three get one free ticket.

I can only tell you after being gone for three/four months how much worse things seemed to be. The counter was a zoo. The gate was a zoo. I could see a real difference and it just made me all that much more angry. I can only say I have no desire to come back as of now.

But as usual the ladies in the club were great, the gate staff was wonderful and the crew was fantastic as we took a one hour delay on the runway. They served a completely full 737 in coach while we waited. They could not have done more to make EVERYONE on the plane feel comfortable. (For awhile I thought Chip Munn was our FO. He would not shut up on the intercom. Then I realized I was on a Boeing bird)

But hey, I saw a cleaner getting off the plane as I was getting on and the plane was clean.
