What "Comprehensive" Changes are Coming?

Actually, DL is going to do something it should have done a long time ago. Reduce domestic service largely with RJ frequencies. The days of the 50 seat jet are over. Not a moment too soon.
As for you NHBB, DL isn't going anywhere. The reason DL is expanding its international service is because it has the airlplanes to do so. Don't let wishful thinking interfere with reality. You seem to have a problem distinguishing between the two. Something to do with old age perhaps?

Maybe ..YOU..should "WAKE the F*** UP", and realize that that "southern GEM", with their Southern Mentality, is NOT the "BIG BOY" you work for, or root for !!!!!

DL(IMHO) got into the "BIG BOY league to late !!(remember SOUTHERN CONSERVATISM).

Hey LUKE,

With hardly any fuel hedged, How much Jet-A do you think that they are having to BUY in JFK, for ALL those 767's, going over the pond DAILY ? PLENTY I suspect !!! Wait till Oil goes to $120 bbl. AND IT WILL, then Maybe Anderson will be wishing that he stayed at UHC 😱

NH--Please, at your leisure, answer the following if you would be so kind:

1--What qualities make an airline a "BIG BOY" airline?
2--When would have been a good time, in your opinion, for DL to have gotten into the "BIG BOY" league?
3--How much more fuel does AA have hedged than DL ? (I know the answer so don't fudge; just enlighten the readers.)

Thank you for your time.
And PLEASE... if at all possible, limit your consumption of caffeine before you reply.

"BBoy, I believe otherwise. If fuel remains high, you don't think NW will excellerate the grounding of the DC-9's
defer new A/C and pull out of certain cities?"

NW owns it's entire fleet of DC-9's which allows it to park them at whim (with out continuing a huge lease payment) Moreover, the DC 9 fleet was scheduled to reach 65 (down form 95) a/c by the end of the year (mostly replaced by highly efficient Jet RJs seating up to 76). Hardly, an issue for a fleet of over 350.

There is almost a non existent chance of NW deferring ANY a/c orders as they are already pre financed and will only add to a reduction in fuel costs. Just as we continued and accelerated the delivery of A330 a/c in BK. We have never pulled out of any domestic city (reduction in ser. but never pulled out) They are very methodical about expanding, hence "if it doesn't make money... forget it"

With the balance sheet it has and young international fleet (including the 14 year avg. 747-400s) NW will be one of the last to go.

It will be very sad to see ANY airline and employees go through what we all just went through...AGAIN.

With tricky DICK's revelation..."stay tuned for COMPREHENSIVE CHANGES", the odds that the NW pilots (now) want any dealings with DL, are IMHO, slim to none. Plus the NW pilots KNOW ALL TO WELL, that as NxNW has stated so very clearly here, the OTHER employees of BIG RED, will have a LOT to say about anything to do with DL !!!

DL(IMHO) got into the "BIG BOY league to late !!(remember SOUTHERN CONSERVATISM).
DL has for years, been an Over sized Domestic carrier, and operated just that way, by some real F***ING darlings as CEO's(Ron Allen where are you these days)(LEO-the light bulb-Mullin, GREAT handling of the 777 FIASCO) !!!

Oh, and getting back to those "HOT" JFK routes, I don't doubt that they are Making money, I really Don't.....BUT with OIL going through the roof of that NASTY JFK terminal of DL's, in the end, you are, or shortly will be...LOOSING money operating them.
Maybe you've RECENTLY given it some thought. Maybe you've said to yourself,...Hmmmm, I wonder WHY, AA, especially with that HUGE new terminal, does'nt FLOOD the NY market with a ZILLION flights "like WE do" (OUCH, I hate like HEL* to have to PAY DL's JFK fuel bill) .

What can I say Luke, except that, if you DO work for DL, I hope that when DICKYS.."Stay TUNED" proclamation comes to fruition, that YOU don't get ensnared in it !

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah .........

Where is his post does he imply the company is lying?

To dismiss out of hand that there will be layoffs (which is what Come Fly With Me was alluding to) is ridiculous. Airline employees nation-wide should brace for what's coming. Period.

I never dismissed layoffs. But to say "grab your ankles" implies that the company is scr$#ing you when in fact the economy is what is/will be scr$#ing you. The company didn't make fuel prices go up. The company didn't make Airtran and JetBlue order hundreds of planes that are flooding the market every day further reducing any ability of ANY carrier to set prices at a level that will cover the costs.

"Comprehensive Changes" = early retirement packages for everybody but pilots. Age 52 and up. Hope the F/A's bite on it. Hire young, attractive, pleasant F/A at a CHEAPER pay rate. I like it.

ChaChing!

Hell I wouldn't hire younger anything....
I'd rather hire a 50 something or older this way, you get maturity at a "CHEAPER" rate and they're only going to be around another 10 or 11 years till they retire.

With hiring the young ones you only get what you got now. High rates as the years go on and waiting around another 30 or 40 years for them to retire.

I think the key operating words here would be "fat and grumpy" not "fat OR grumpy", but "Fat and Grumpy!" They hurt the biz.

Heck, let's through just throw GRUMPY out there! I will take fat and happy anytime!

To the moon with you Alice....
Where'd these key operating words come from?

What DAL needs are FA's that are pleasant ALL the TIME and not when they "feel" like it. Esp. international business class. I don't care if they are fat or ugly, male or female, or whatever as long as they are pleasant to EVERYBODY. For the most part FA's are usually very nice. But when you get a cranky, &*^%$, it's a disaster and that is what the passenger remembers, the cranky one.

Even some of the pilot's complain amougst themselves. They seem to tolerate a lot of crap daily and it's sad when even pilots get the cranky FA. If you are that cranky, QUIT!

I think the common thing here is that the F/A's have to deal with you. You sound like a bit of a pain and may bring some of the "best" out of everyone.

Thanks, I was thinking of a way to say that exact thing.
I just didn't know how to say it with a little decorum.
Then again by the looks of Alice's posts, she probably doesn't know what the word means.

#2.,...Since DL is like a "3rd string QB", in SA, I'd say they should have focused much sooner, would'nt you agree.

#2., "More than DL" !!! With ALL the DL flights out of JFK, when does it COST MONEY for that operation ?

$110 bbl. ??.........$120 bbl. ??,..........$130 bbl. ??
Just remember what BIG DICK said............"STAY TUNED"
