US Airways: No Immediate Plans To Cut More 737s From Fleet

I wonder if anyone has access to a comparison chart that shows the fuel burn rate of the newer 737's vs. the older 'classics".
I must be getting old, I remember when they called the 737-200's "classics", and the -300/400's the new fuel efficent models.

Just remember leases in Pittsburgh were safe and "labor friendly bankruptcy filings in chapter 11". Oil approaching $140.00 a barrel, yep, those older 737's are here to stay, take it to the bank.

How is that possible when there are 35 leases expiring in 2008. There are only 87 737's on the property. As a reference point the proxy statement says 41 737-300 and 8 737-400 leases expire between now and 2010.

It also says 14 E190 and 5 321's will be delivered this year. I expect there will be 737's replace with E190 flying this year.

They are lying , sources say a 15 % reduction in flying coming in September.

Ooohhh. Sounds covert. Must be true. These sources must be believed and are completely credible. Care to share who these "sources" are? Or did you mean sorcerer? Or sorceress?

What is the normal drawdown in September; does anybody know?

I looked at USDaily from September 2007 and we averaged 1457 flights per day on Tuesdays.
This past Tuesday, June 3rd, we were down to 1414 flights. That is a 3% reduction. So with the normal fall drawdown, it may very well be 13% -15%.

Where did you get proxy statement coming from website?

You can link to it from the USAirways home page or go to the investor relations page of the site.

I think the mgmt discussion on fleet starts around page 24.

Proxy statements must be made public if the company is a publicly held corporation thanks to the folks at the SEC

If this is true, it would seem that the company could do better by using force majuere (sp?) to break the contracts with commuters and keep the seats at mainline... can do this with out bankrupty? they are going to have to break the min fleet in the pilot contract to do this. so why not unload the inefficent uncomfortable poorly run replacement jets instead.
