" I'm not sure what's in the water out there in Phoenix," Horton told the newspaper. "Maybe it's the cactus. I don't know what it is."

"Horton's next job is to sell the plan to employees, creditors and eventually the bankruptcy court judge." And afterwards, his next job should be at http://www.timhortons.com/Cafe/us/en/menu/espresso-beverages.html

Complete lack of imagination in the opportunity of reducing capacity (or a possible threat) and to fill-in gaps to AA's route network on Tim, errrr.... Tom Horton's part. Besides, it wouldn't be the first time that a much smaller company buys a large company, as if the money and potential returns are available, then investors won't care who was larger or who was in charge of the operation.

So Parodies Jester.

I think he could have simply said they would not be a good fit.....Class act...NOT..

Tommy is poking fun at an airline that secured drastic cuts to employee numbers, wages, and pensions (and is profitable)... and Tommy fails to see the irony of being reaaly excited about AA post bankruptcy.. ie. He is finally getting around to doing the same at his airline. He is such a late bloomer.

Wow, apply even industry AVERAGE compensation packages to that and see what happens.

You're proud of that? If AA had LCC compensation packages, and outsourced mx, imagine how profitable AA would have been!

Late bloomer? He's been CEO for 2 months......

Did you know Allegiant MD80 captains are making MORE than LCC A330 captains? REPUBLIC E190 captains top out a close to what LCC A320 captains are making. SPIRIT pilot pay blows away LCC's pay...

You're proud of what you've just posted? YEAH BABY LOOK AT US!!!!!! 🙄 🙄

I must've misread the headlines this week. I thought I saw where you're boss is cutting 13,000 of you loose along with a bunch of other concessions. Been there done it. Did you wake up this AM thinking you're working for UA or DL or WN? After Tommy employee bloodbath you'd better hope you're still working. BOHICA!

I find it interesting that Horton dismissed US but not DL. Since both airlines have come out stating they are studying a purchase of AA, I wonder why he is silent on DL? Is it because he would welcome a merger with DL, or maybe he assumes there is no chance of a DL-AA hook up so he did not bother to address it?

AMR CEO Ridicules Possible US Airways Bid

Sounds to me like the merger game is on! Horton has no reason to throw rocks at US except to throw the media and others off the scent. This tell me they;re talking.

Doug started at AA and could have a few allies lurking about or a few who would like to undermine him at all costs. Either way it looks like GAME ON!

He said this simply to lesson the concerns of the AA employees, especially this week given the job cuts announced. Wall St. would love to see a merger. Other airlines would love to see a merger as it will inevitably lead to less capacty. Etc.

Who knows what will happen -- I'd prefer DL over AA -- but needless to say, AA is looking at partners, regardless of what is said in public.

Tommy got you guys to do exactly what he wanted. You are busy throwing stones at other employees at work while he is pillaging your house and walking off with your women, so to speak.

Like when UA and US were throwing rocks at each other in 2000, 2004 and again in early 2005? Like when AA and US were tossing rocks back and forth in 2004? Like Parker and Lakefield were slinging stones in 2004 and again in 2005 - heck, they were rolling boulders? Like DL and NW pummeling each other in the press in 2007? UA and CO flat out beating each other up in 2010?

Seems that the ones throwing stones haven't been interested in US at all - CO, DL, and now AA. So remember, "talking" can be Horton telling Parker "No way no how".
