here are couple of links....they are rather contradictory. You decide...

This is the written first hand account of Chaplain Dr. Keith A. Robinson of Houston Regional Community Chaplain Corps telling the events that occurred and what passengers were forced to endure on Flight 297 from Houston on November 17th. When are we going to take our country back from our own internal terrorists - the politically correct. More links can be found here:

ATLANTA -- The man who claims he stopped what appeared to be a "dry run" for a terrorist attack aboard an AirTran flight from Atlanta was never aboard the flight, according to the airline.
A representative for AirTran told Channel 2 Action News that the Internet account about the incident was not true.
"After conducting additional research into this situation, we have verified, according to flight manifests (legally binding documents) that the individual that allegedly created a first-hand account of events on-board AirTran Airways Flight 297, a Theodore Petruna, was never actually on-board the flight," AirTran said in a statement.

thx DCMS---Ive googled couple story lines----the airlines are so scared of bad pub's and correct the PC crowd will get you killed.

Here's another link...

I notice that the "account" in that link says that the entire original crew left the plane with the passengers still on it - seems unlikely, not to mention a violation of FAA regs.

I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle of the two conflicting versions. Even over at snopes.com, they don't say true or false. They rate it "mixture."

Flight 297

Within the above link are two accounts - one from a chaplain who was originally booked on Flight 297, missed the connection, but got onboard when the plane returned to the gate. His info is mostly second-hand information.

A better - and IMO more accurate - account of what happened is nearly 10 minutes of raw video from Atlanta station WSB interviewing another passenger in business class as to what happened.

Link to video

The passenger interviewed said that althoughhe did see a number of Middle Eastern passengers on the flight walking around, interacting with each other, and being uncooperative with the flight crew, and although he felt AirTran mishandled the incident (primarily by not communicating information about the situation with other passengers), none of the group in question was dancing, singing, taking pictures, or being manhandled off the plane by other passengers.

JimAnd then another crew showed up immediately............

The "eyewitness account" said that 5 minutes elapsed between the original crew deplaning and the new crew showing up, with the entry door closed during that 5 minutes. That's what my statement was based on. If it was actually a matter of one crew leaving and another crew immediately coming on board, that's a different story but still makes the "eyewitness account" questionable.
