I always just delayed the flight to go get something a little better than a crew meal like we used to get. I would tell the agent on my way out that I either need food or paramedics. I never had anyone write me up for leaving, except for one pilot who refused to go get food for me.

I’ve done that too, and if the Gate Agent need to make a notation that it was a Crew delay, it was fine with me.

Only a handful of times I ever heard anything more about it. I printed out the actual times from that day from CATCREW, highlighted where we took the time to eat, and that was that.
