I stayed at the Crowne Plaza that is just 2-3 blocks away from the central rail station. Very convinent to everything in AMS. There is also a Marriot close by that was nice too.

Thanks Guys 🙂

I can hardly wait to plan this vacation..Gonna push the hubby for 2 weeks..So I really want a nice hotel! We will do our thing all day, but want a really nice place to stay without spending a fortune 🙂

Thanks again 🙂 !!

Don't forget to make Dam Square part of your itinerary!

Great people watching. There's also a great bar just off of it that has *excellent* Belgian beers and cheese.

I'd also second the earlier vote for the Van Gogh museum; it's well worth the visit!

Lastly, all double entendres aside, AMS is a very visually stimulating city. You'll love it....

There is a B&B style hotel a few blocks from the Anne Frank House called The Canal House. It is beautiful. Each room is different, full of antiques and charm. There is a sitting room area downstairs that offers a "social" hour in the afternoon. It's very convenient to most anything you might want to do and the staff is extremely helpful. They gave me a 10% discount for being an airline employee. http://www.canalhouse.nl/ Check out the website for pictures and prices.

Pineybob is right about going to Brugges. It is one of the most quaint, romantic little towns I've ever visited. Very safe, too. You can walk around in the evening and feel very safe. If you want to do it on a day tour it is pretty reasonable. The first time I went we took a day tour that went to Brugges and Ghent. Most of the tour groups offer a crew discount if you show your airline i.d. I'm not usually a "tour group" kinda' girl, so after the first time I just got on the train and went on my own. No problem at all.

My family is Dutch on my mom's side, so I love visiting Holland. I hope you have a wonderful time!

I hate to burst your bubble, but you'll have a heck of a time finding a decent rate in AMS. The Rijksmuseum is hosting Rembrandt 400 -- a celebration of Rembrandt's 400th birthday with hundreds of Rembrandt's paintings from museums all over the world on display. This is a big deal as people are flying in for the show -- this will be going on now through the summer. I know hotel prices have doubled in some cases. Amsterdam is a real easy city to get around, trains and canal boats so you may be able to find reasonably priced accomodations on the city's outskirts.
