Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport has set another monthly record for the number of passengers passing through its gates.

More than 1.8 milion passengers used the Linthicum airport in October, the fourth consecutive month BWI has set a passenger record. The October figure was a 3.8 percent increase over passenger totals from October 2006.

Dallas-based Southwest Airlines (NYSE:LUV), BWI's dominant carrier with more than 180 daily departures, saw the highest number of flyers in October tallying 933,970 passengers. That number was up 3.7 percent from the same month one year ago.

AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of Orlando, Fla.-based AirTran Holdings Inc. (NYSE:AAI), reported 226,828 passengers for the month of October. AirTran's October number was the largest increase in passengers, 29.3 percent, when compared to October 2006. AirTran is BWI's No. 2 carrier with more than 40 daily departures.

Its good to see that both Carrriers have improved.... I doubt FL will ever catch WN, then again, that may be the plan. I say Good Job to both!
