Why was MAD 740 late yesterday?

I just noticed that yesterdays ( SAT ) US740 to MAD does not depart until 0300, arriving 1600 MAD time today. Of course today's return US 741 is also delayed, departing MAD at 1800. what happened? Ops, crew issues? Just glad we came home last week.

Problem with #2 ENG Thrust Reverser Fairing/ was popping out of the cowling.

I don't understand why I guess the MTC controllers or foreman set unrealistic ETRs. First 2000, then 2230 then 0300.

Back on schedule as of the 27th anyway - arrived 30 mins early in MAD. Can't say the other intl flights did so well getting out of PHL yesterday though.

I found a very simple formula for estimating how long it will take to fix an airplane. It always worked for me when I was a mechanic, and it seems to work even now when a mechanic tells me how long he thinks it will take to get one fixed.

Estimate X 3 = Actual time to fix.

This is very accurate unless it is something that the mechanic has done many times, e.g. change a tire.
