I just bought a laptop that has a Windows Vista operating system and I am unable to connect to Maestro. Called Flightline and they were NO help. Any ideas anyone?

Vista isn't the holy grail MS was hoping for. A lot of corp. IT departments have only recently gotten their people migrated to Win2K or WinNT, which have proven to be, more or less, stable with a lot of supported apps and hardware compatibility. Therefore, the upgrade orders aren't pouring into Bill and company as richly as they had hoped.

It's entirely possible, and probably probable, that Vista isn't supported by the app you're trying to access.

Is Maestro completely web based or is it an application you have installed on your PC? If it's web based, the problem might be with IE 7, which is bundled with Vista. There are ways to de-install or replace IE 7 with IE 6 for maximum compatibility, but MS doesn't really support it. You'll have to puruse the web for hacks/work arounds. Call your IT department, I'm sure they've got a lot of free time to help you.

Maestro will not work on Vista, plain and simple. To make matters worse, they are not planning to make it work on Vista anytime soon. No one is supporting this operating system.

As a computer builder and enthusiast...vista sucks
eats too much CPU power...and is full of BS
XP still is better...why ?
because it runs off of Win 2000
i went back to XP 2 hours after i had installed vista

Sorry to tell you this, but Maestro is NOT compatible with Vista. I upgraded my XP Pro laptop to Vista Business and had to go back to XP Pro.

Also, you cannot connect to Maestro if you load Windows Live One Care.

Both Vista and OneCare will block the VPN connection that Maestro tries to make.

Aah! The lament of a "first adopter".

I would sell the piece of caca as the US government has banned Vista from any of their networks. Consider going ! MS. ( ! means NOT )

If you choose to keep, consider yourself a beta tester, with all the downsides and none of the upsides.

Feel free to knock Gates on the head. He deserves it.

Patrick Svenburg, program manager for Windows Client Solutions in Microsoft Federal, answered questions from government IT managers today about the upcoming Windows Vista release. Many of the questions were about BitLocker, Microsoft's new drive encryption technology, as well as other security questions, upgrading from Windows XP, IPv6 deployment and more. Svenburg is a member of the Windows Vista Launch Team and is leading early adoption efforts for Windows Vista within the Federal community, according to Government Computer News."

For those of you who have been unable to log on to Maestro through Flightline I have some good news. They are working on a patch that will allow us to access the VPN to connect to Maestro. In the early tests it worked - so stay tuned I think we will all have a fix shortly.

Bill Gates can't find the guy who He stole it off of. Maybe he's the guy in charge of US' IT Department.

Think of Vista as a vampire, if you invite it into your house, it will harm you.

I'm staying away from it, keeping XP and Linux.

I don't know what Maestro is. I am a pilot on LTD so am a bit out of the loop. I just returned to the beloved Mac cult and bought a new MacBook Pro after having switched to the dark side using a Sony VIAO for a few years. I was disappointed to find out that theHub does not work with the Mac browser Safari. I guess there is a new portal called Wings that is launching on April 28 to replace theHub and it is supposed to work with Safari. Maybe this will fix the Vista problem, too.

RUN ALMOST ANY PROGRAM ON VISTA

You may hear reports that your favorite application won't run properly under VISTA, but that not necessarily the case.

VISTA itself provides the compatibilty mode that tried to fool the appliations into thinking that they are running in a previous version of WINDOWS. Right CLICK the shortcut to a program in VISTA. THEN click PROPERTIES > Compatibility, check the compatability mode box and select " WINDOWS XP (Service Pack 2) in the list

The compatability TAV also enables you to turn off new VISTA AERO features just for a specific application. You can choose to "run this program as an Administrator"- it isn't recommended (for security reasons). but it might be all you need to fix a compatability issue.
