WTF GOP canidates?

Don't tell me people don't take advantage of "The System" ! Especially ones who just purchased their food with a "SNAP" card and load them into their "CADILLAC'S" ! Yes, there are people who need assistance, but it seems we just make it easier and easier to game the system ! Now, sorry you don't like the way I put it, but some people don't pussy-foot around when callin' 'em like they see 'em ! Besides, I could really care less about what your opinion of me and my tact is !

Oh.............and Kev, haven't seen you on the DL forums lately ! What gives ? Not liking what your seeing ?

The Facts:

In the 2010 fiscal year, $64.7 billion in food stamps were distributed, with an average monthly benefit per recipient in a household of $133.49. As of June 2011, the number of Americans receiving food stamps was 45,183,931, the first time in 38 months that the number of participants decreased. In Washington, D.C., and Mississippi, more than one-fifth of residents receive food stamps. Recipients must have at most near-poverty incomes to qualify for benefits. The 64.7 Billion represents 1.7% of 2010's spending, or put another way the equivalent of 25 days worth of borrowing at the current rate of borrowing. To provide additional perspective, the money spent in Iraq and Afghanistan would provide Food Assistance for 57 Years. F-I-F-T-Y S-E-V-E-N Y-E-A-R-S or ten years of assistance instead of the Bank bailout.
With the food program we know there is going to be some fraud. Compared to what though? As much as Solyndra? More? Less? $64.7 Billion? The Pentagon spends that on hammers and flashlights for krissakes,

Ever stop to think that they may have owned that Cadillac outright prior to falling on hard times? Secondly buying a ten year old high end luxury car is actually very astute as they are usually better kept and have lower miles by the previous owner yet cost roughly the same as a comparable Ford or Toyota.

The way the system is scammed is not the way you think. If someone uses their EBT and loads groceries into a high end luxury vehicle it likely because someone in the family is involved in some type of illegal activity. Which is yet another reason to END the insane war on drugs.

Now I'm profoundly sorry you are upset with factual replies that don't fit into you little Conservative/Liberal pigeon holes but them's the breaks kids. Why would you be upset with the working poor trying to leverage the system when you have folks like Speaker Boehner, Pelosi and the rest of the Crony Capitalists in DC. All the so called Working Poor have done is learned and applied the lessons their leaders taught them oh so well.

And that's why its not perceived as a depression and DC knows it. No long soup kitchen lines with food stamps and 99 weeks unemployment.

Did you collect unemployment when times got tough? I have never had collected but did try.

I tried to collect but NWA had their chief legal counsel fight all 12 of us who filed in Texas. He actually spent 2 hours on the hearing to deny everything we said and refute our documents. The state of Texas was more than happy to side with the business.

You bring up an excellent point. Each state handles UE differently. Which is how it should be. I think Dell may have had a bigger point. My take away was that if like the old days we had soup kitchens, bread lines and what was called "relief" then we'd have riots and the current resident of the White House along with Congress would have been public enemy Number one.

I also can't help but wonder if the relative ease of claiming benefits doesn't contribute to the length of time people stay on US, Food Assistance. There used to be a certain shame that went along with Unemployment and Food Stamps and people were in a hurry to get off the programs. Now it seems less the case.

So you didn't appeal?

Preparation is the key to success.

So what did you do after that?

Looks like Mitt Romney is bowing out of the Trump debate. I wonder who's next.

Aren't you happy you seen this train wreck coming?
I am!
I was eligible for UE but refused as I have never taken a dime from anyone that I didn't earn.
#### pride maybe or a determination and faith in my abilities. Don't know, it is what it is.
In hindsight, that $60K in UE benefits would have made my life much easier, but maybe not as eager to do something.

I am out of the industry doing something challenging that I have never attempted before.

Myself and the others filed just to make those rotten bustards fight us. I actually attended the hearing (via telecon) from my place of employment. I was out of work 2 weeks by my choice. I had several job offers well before the strike.

I told my boss what I needed to do and asked for the time off. He insisted that I did not have to do that. I worked on other stuff from my desk while I listened to the show. When my time came to testify, i said my piece and was done in 5 minutes.

He allowed me to take that time as my lunch break.

Nothing of interest...

Gotta say that it's kinda creepy that you're looking for me, though...

Just a lot of news breaking concerning the NMB's ruling on DL interference with the union and I know usually when I see the word union, your somewhere to be found !

Sorry about your creeped out ordeal !

How pathetic...

What agenda is that?

When asked how he felt about a Trump-hosted debate, Santorum explained that, given the recent string of left-leaning journalists who have served as moderators — some of which he has “not felt comfortable” with — Trump could not be any worse.

“Brian Williams, I wasn’t comfortable with,” started Santorum, adding, “and I had every right not to be, given the questions he asked.”

“You go down the list of all the people they’ve had, these reporters who have tried to make this debate about them and not about the candidates and what they believe in, and rearranging time to make sure the people that they wanted to have time, get time.”

Duh.....
