What's new

Your "NEW" 2012 President !

So because you are not basing your decison on race, race is not an issue?

I am not arguing that race is as big an issue as it was in 2008, but I do believe there are a whole bunch of folks out there who cannot stand the fact that we have a POTUS who is not white.

We need a gay candidate to speak for the masses.

Bill Clinton was our first Black President....

Now we have Barack

As I believe there are a whole bunch of people out there who voted for Nobama simply because they had the same skin color and not because they thought he was capable of the job or even agreed with his views !

Given the history of the US, the percentage of blacks verses the rest of the population do you think there is an equal percentage of the population that voted against him/or not at all because he had the wrong skin color?

I personally know of die hard black Republicans (yes, they really do exist) who voted for the Chocolate Jesus because of his race.

I also know of white Democrats who refused to vote for him because of his race, and frankly they both suffered from the same ignorance that made some people refuse to vote for Kennedy because he was Catholic, or people who have issues with Romney because he's Mormon.

I'm saying people voted for him simply because they shared the same skin color and not necessarily because they thought he was capable of the job !

Why is it so hard for you to accept that !

Local talk show awhile back, black guy called in was griping about Obama, said he voted for him because he was the Brother and he and his buddies wouldn't vote for him again. The host asked why they wouldn't vote for him again and the guy said 'because he didn't give us nothing", host asked what he meant and the guy said "no free stuff".

Doubtful. If anything, "white guilt" probably more than offset the percentage of people who voted against him for his skin color.

At least now, there's a record (or lack therefore of) to point to. Lots of hopes for someone else's change didn't happen.

I have yet to meet anyone inside my circle of friends who is Democrat that is still proud of their vote for Obama. One has even gone so far as to admit he probably won't vote this time around as pennance. He can't bring himself to support a Republican, but he also can't support the incumbent.

That scenario already played out in the Walker recall --- lots of college age kids got whipped up in the frenzy to show up at demonstrations and sign off on the petitions to force a recall, but when it came time to vote, they didn't show up. Either they figured out that they'd been duped by the media & unions, or they came to the realization that there weren't any free t-shirts & brats being given out just for showing up.

Let me know when you pick a side that fits your POV.

In 2000 in S.C. the Bush campaign put out a flyer that McCain had a black illegitimate child. McCain at one point said that it was quite effective in sinking his primary bid.

I think it's funny that with the South's history of staunch support (sarcasm) that the two of you are trying to argue that there is not a substantial amount of people who did not vote for Obama due to the color of his skin. Racism just disappeared?

If this country would not be so racist and sexist in it's politics this would not happen and eventually the race, gender or sexual orientation will not have a bearing on and election but what do you think would happen if a woman ran for president? She would in all likely hood receive a large percentage of female votes, loose a portion of male votes. It's how people think. They have a greater likelyhood of voting for someone who represents them.

Yes, I know you believe that. You already stated that in a previous post. And I agree with you. Do you want to address the question I asked in #51?

Strange that people who cannot even articulate why they vote the way they do, claim to know why others vote the way they do.

Seems to be a prevailing theme.

That stinks. There's no excuse for not participating, IMO. Hell, at least vote for a 3rd party candidate...

...Or parts of the voter suppression laws (specifically, the changes to residency reqs., and how that matched the end of the school year) precluded them from participating...

And unfortunately that is the reason he will be elected yet again. People who never voted in their lives were out there in droves like a million man march revisited.

Add those Clinton-can-do-no-wrong crowd, and the USA is doomed to elect a total moron yet again.

See ya in 2016, if there is still a United States of America. We might be the illegals crossing into Mexico for jobs!!!
