It's not something that keeps me up at night. This is just another example of paranoid minds run amoke.
You know how you eat an elephant?
Did you hear that?

I beleive it was Ms Tree who said if it happens then we really don't deserve to live here. Or something to that affect.
Lets look at the facts as they now stand. Muslims are not the majority in this country, kind of hard for a minority to enforce their religous laws on a majority that would not want it. Especially in a democracy. That's assuming of course that is their goal. There's a sizable Iranian-American community in southern California. I'm going to guess they are there because they don't want to live under Sharia law.
Are there any examples of minorities who were not able to exert their rights/dominance over the majority?
Current Muslim population in the US is between 1.3 - 2.7 million. Let's go with the higher population. That is still less than 1% of the US population. That would be 32% less than the 33% who did not want to be independent. Do you have a better example where the math might even come close to adding up?
Short of the top 1% in the US who have the financial and political power to enforce their will on the people, I do not see the 1% of Muslims holding that same amount of power.

I'm not that worried today as the numbers are small. Small but growing. Perhaps this time we will get ahead of the curve and be a bit more proactive as four states have already done. Those states have laws that prohibit judges from using foreign legal doctrine in their courts. This gets rid of honor killings and other cultural practices from far and not so far lands. It maintains our culture and preserves their Liberties as defined by the country they choose to live in.
Your are so right. It's a very good thing that the four states have prohibitions on Sharia being used in courts. The dismissals of honor killings was getting out of hand.
Hmmmm...a real indicator of how 'minority' Muslims are is to learn from Belgium, where Muhammed became the #1 baby boy names. Not happening here, unless you look at Muhammed, Mohummed, Mohammed, or the various ways the name is spelled to see who the real minority is 😛h34r:I beleive it was Ms Tree who said if it happens then we really don't deserve to live here. The honor Killings are just an example. It's far more reaching than that. ANY foreign legal concept including Judge Bader Ginsburg's love affair with the South African Constitution.
I guess sarcasm is lost on you. Was there an honor killing that was acquitted based on sharia law?
Love affair with SA? What on earth are you talking about?

Justice Ginsburg Tells Egyptians: Don’t Model Government on U.S. Constitution
Alluding to the Constitution of her own nation, Ginsburg counseled her audience to do their best “to achieve the goals of this revolution and to continue to strive to create a government of the people, by the people and for the people.”
