AA outsourcing flying at ORD

Well why not (Edited by moderator: profanity) [anger] another employee group while they are at it?

Before long even the non-union folks will be shafted by this management team.

Arpey and his gamg of consulting firms need to be replaced with someone that has a true airline specific direction. These consulting firms are nothing more than camo-dressed bean counters that have not a clue how to run an airline. Most every consulting group to enter maintenance is attempting to apply manaufacture assembly line techniques to the world of aircraft maintenance which has too many variables to be an assembly line setup.

Profits and shareholders first.

Why don't they outsource AA management to India and save a fortune there as well?

What exactly is new here? Some of the American Connection flying being done by Chautauqua at STL is moving up to ORD.

It didn't violate the contract when they were flying in and out of STL, and as long as it's not increasing the ASMs flown by Chautauqua, where's the foul?...

No, the a/c that were flown in and out of STL are moving to ORD. The flying is not. It's rather difficult to fly the STL-MSP route if you are starting from ORD. For the most part the flying that AX was doing at STL is simply ceasing to exist. There are people is St. Louis who would take exception to any statement that "we are still flying from STL to XNA, we just start from ORD now."

All that said, I agree with your statement that as long as the ASMs on AX have not changed, I fail to see a contract violation.

By the way...another example of airline people vs. accountants running the business. WN is doing quite nicely on their new service from STL to BOS and MSP reduced or abandoned by AA.

Hypertechnically, the topic headline (provided by Hopeful and the Tribune) is correct; the companies providing outsourced flying at STL will now instead be flying at ORD.

Gotta love the Tribune's misleading first sentence:

American Airlines plans for the first time to outsource flights at O'Hare International Airport as it bolsters its summer schedule, the Tribune has learned.

That's funny - the APA has considered the ORD Eagle flying as "outsourced" for the 20+ years it's been happening. I know, the Tribune is referring to the first time AA has outsourced ORD flying to an entity not owned by AMR. Except that's wrong also. Simmons flew from ORD (and perhaps other airports) prior to the purchase of Simmons by AMR.

For many years, APA mainline pilots have been POd by the outsourcing of former mainline routes to Eagle at ORD. Now the Eagle ALPA pilots are mad as well.

Didn't MAH4546 post a while back that this move will permit Eagle to move more regional jets to Miami and DFW?

Of course, there's probably some more outsourcing heading to ORD: the two dozen or three dozen CRJ700s that will be based at ORD that will feature First Class for the first time. Those planes will replace some Eagle 50 seaters and replace some mainline MD-80s, in addition to adding First Class on flights already flown as single class Eagle CRJ700s from ORD.

This, along with the new CR7 deliveries, is going to allow for a lot of new ERJ flying from Miami and Los Angeles, such as LAX-RNO/DEN.

Also, ERJs are moving into formerly OW-exclusive routes like MIA-NAS/RSW.

Making a big deal out of nothing: no flying is being replaced.
