NY Waterway to sue USAirways over 1549

The bill should go to NYC. It's their waterway. Now if inturn NYC wants to collect from Airways, so be it, but they are going to look very small.

Just one short note, after 9/11 when NY Waterways expanded service for FEMA because of the loss of train service, they were charged with over billing the goverment. It seems to be a company practice to over bill in time of disaster.

I think Atlantic is correct. If anyone should pay NYWaterways, it should be whichever government authority has oversight of rescue on the Hudson River. USAirways did not cause this accident.

US Airways just needs to pay them something. Just a Thank You isn't enough. But then again it was NY Waterways that fished US Airways passengers out of the water. US Airways should be fair with NY Waterways, and leave the NJ/NY Gov't out of it. Doesn't anyone do what is "Morally" Correct anymore? Sad!

If USAirways is responsible, then of course they should pay. But the accident was just that....an accident. The geese being in conflict with the airplane was strictly an "act of God," a natural disaster.

Who bears the costs for natural disasters? The taxpayer always does. It's part of the price of citizenship and having this help available when something happens for which no human can be held responsible.

What is morally suspect is any contention that USAirways is responsible financially for the rescue, and NYWaterways trying to collect from them.

Maybe they should sue Canada then. That's were the birds were from, and going back to!
The Ferry Boats should be made whole for what it cost them, of course.
But that check should come from the Port of NY/NJ. They are the masters of that waterway.

I say NY Waterways should sue each resident of NYC $3 each. Without the population, there would be no LGA airport nor would there be more food than ordinarily found in nature, which resulted in more geese than ususal, thus causing the crash.
