Was reading that there is a new airline being developed, and this is the first I've heard of it. They apparently just put in a sizable order for some Boeing aircraft, 737-8s and 7E7s. The website doesn't say a whole lot... just wondering if anyone has heard anything about these guys.

They are an outfit that is starting out of the ashes of National Airlines(LAS)....it was supposed to be an airline with 757's and all business class.. havent' heard of aircraft orders and last I heard they didn't have any operating capital...

Found this today on justplanes.com:

Primaris Airlines plans mega Boeing order
Primaris Airlines, a new low cost in the US, has selected the Boeing 737 and 7E7 for its fleet. The airline announced plans to purchase 20 737-800s and 20 7E7-800s, with options for an additional 25 737-800s and 15 7E7-800s. Deliveries of the 737-800s will begin in 2007 and the 7E7-800s in 2010.

Guess it is still a ways off....

I heard of this airline the first time in June of this year and I have asked on Jun/08 in a thread if Primaris is going to replace National.

Since then a lot has happened and it looks like the have some ambitious plans. Initially they tried to start up scheduled service in October of this year but their certification was delayed. They have one B757-200 and are scheduled to receive a next aircraft soon. That is all the current info I could gather.

JI Guy -- actually this Primaris is following the model of another successful airline, PrivatAir, who has been running craft from EWR-MUC w/ LH and appealing to the cream pax.

I noticed Privat some years ago and mentioned them on this board.

Will these people never learn? Another one will bite the dust! Who the frick is financing this stuff?!?!?!?

The President of Primaris is an Ex-US Senator. Do I need to say more about financing?

And why does this one has to bite the dust? Just because it is a new airline does not mean that they are not surviving. I remember what they said about JetBlue. Look where they are, and who they are today.

Primaris is picking up what UA has dropped after 9/11 and LH is pioneering with a lot of success in connection with PrivatAir (as whatkindoffreshhell wrote). With more and more LCC service (even by Legacy Carriers – see Ted and Song) and a demand for a service above that of the LCC Primaris might have a chance. At least they have the guts to do it and give some of the people in LAS a chance for a job after National went bankrupt.

Try to look at the positives!!!!

What amazes me is how an "airline" can sign a big deal for airplanes and still not have thier financing in place.

What a world!

There are rumors, that Boeing is sponsoring this. They needed a customer in the US and Primaris needed a backer. One hand is washing the other. However, as I said, these are rumors and I cannot vouch for their validity.

I find it interesting that Primaris is ordering large numbers of aircraft with out announcing how they are being financed. They are currently only operating one 757 on charter. They are also only offering half pay to any one that interviews for a pilot position. Does that sound like a company that can afford new aircraft? I wouldn't work for this bunch unless I was desperate for a job.

Oh, on the positive side............. their paint job is cool looking

Talk about a senatorial junket trip:

"In November 1984, Senator Garn was invited by NASA to fly as a payload specialist on the space shuttle Discovery Mission STS-51-D. During the seven-day flight, he performed various medical tests. E.J. "Jake" Garn, a U.S. Senator from Utah, was the first public official to fly aboard the Space Shuttle."

Not sure I would call that being an astronaut, now John Glenn, that is another story!

I've seen Primarius' 757 at Las Vegas McCarren. It's parked near the signature ramp and seems to be there every time I go to work. It is a nice looking paint scheme. Looks like a silver bullet.
