TUL rumor not good for US Airways Mechanics

The individual IAM & TWU memberships will NOT get a vote on the question of the formation of IAM/TWU alliance. swamt is correct, the NMB has nothing to do with this.

The individual IAM & TWU memberships WILL get a vote on the question of the IAM/TWU alliance as a bargaining representative. This is the election the NMB will conduct.

The IAM & TWU will not file for representation individually as two separate unions, they will file as one union, the "IAM/TWU Alliance"

All that being said, any talk of what is or is not on the would-be ballot is mere speculation. Thats all it can be at this point, as...

1. no single transportation system determination has been made in the matter of AA/US.

2. no filing for representation has yet been made.

3. no one can know at this point if/how many intervenors will file and would ALSO be on the ballot.

If you're an IAM or TWU member upset with being denied input on the formation of the IAM/TWU Alliance, then you should be signing cards/campaigning for your representative of choice. That way, IF/When a STS determination is made by the NMB, and a representational election called, you'll be prepared to file and have your representative of choice placed on the ballot as well.

You DO have a choice.
Glad to see someone is finally getting this. He and they (IAM/TWU internationals) are praying you guys fall for all the rubbish they are spreading to scare the members into voting for the alliance. It's a force vote for the alliance or you guys are non-union, the NMB would not conduct this type of ending results, period.

700 is trying to intimidate the membership into voting for this association nonsense. At no point has the membership asked for this, it is simply a means for the unions to maintain dues flows and appointed officers remain in their cushy positions. In the past decade what has either the IAM or TWU done for airline workers? All we have seen is concessions after concessions, excuses, "we'll get 'em next time" and other fear tactics.

I agree 100%!! Maybe the IAM should take some notes from the BART unions up north. And least they are showing some kind of action and getting it done. But as usual we will all sit back and watch the IAM just ride it out with the company won't we?

First of all I have not tried to intimidate anyone, you are the master of misinformation, you have no idea whats going on and just hate the IAM and US.

The IAM has not led 90% of its members at an airline to the loss of jobs like AMFA did at NW and the total closure of the OAK mtc base and AS wasnt looking for concessions.

Officers are elected at the IAM, but since you arent a member and never have been, you just spread lies, hate and miscontent and you dont even have a dog in the fight.

Guess Chapter 11 bankruptcy laws mean nothing to you and not one union was immune to the bankruptcy at the legacy carriers.

Dont let the facts get in your way.

What a waste, no one driving down an interstate cares about the IAM and negotiations at US, seriously. Was it union designed/made?

White on red looks awful btw.

Compare the losses, AMFA at NW failed miserably and walked away from its members. NW played amfa like a fiddle.

How can you take a membership out on strike and have to beg for money as they has no strike fund?

The members voted to strike. If you don't remember, more than 50% were going to be laid off, so what did they have to lose? That's not the union failing them- that's the company trying to bust the union. By your reasoning, the IAM has failed their members by not securing a good contract. Most of us can see past that and know that it's the company that hasn't negotiated in good faith.
