Somebody needs to tell the White House to stop referring to the flight that buzzed Manhattan as “Air Force One.†The plane only gets that call sign when it’s carrying the president. Or… was it?
What’s wrong with the official apology for the Manhattan fly-by?

Perhaps he was on the plane taking part in the 100 day Obama self love fest photo op to further glorify himself only for it to backfire. Nice work.

I hear you, but maybe it was just "easier" to refer to it as Air force One, since that's what most everyone knows it as (regardless of wether he's onboard or not).
Seems like less of a mouthful than "an-air-force-VC25-which-is-the-military-version-of-the-boeing-747-and-is-only-referred-to-as-Air-force-one-when-a-president-is-on-board"

I'm ashamed to have such a pansy for President. He apologizes to other countries, and now apologizes for doing a perfectly safe fly-by of the Statue of Liberty. Excuse me while I throw up.

The fly over/photo op scared a lot of people and an announcement was not made to the general public that a 747 escorted by a F16 would be flying over the area where two towers once stood. I feel an apology was in order. I think it is refreshing that a politician actually takes some responsibility and says he is sorry if he or his admin screwed up.
Perhaps instead of running to the toilet to puke every 5 min like a spoiled brat, you should attempt to get a opposition party organized. The RNC is obviously incapable of doing so.

the apology was probably in order..because they did not inform city officials.. enabling them to relay information back to the people should they happen to ask what was going on..
I agree. Of course, he himself had nothing to do with this photo shoot, but he's willing to take reponsbility for what goes on in his administration. Other presidents dont' even admit when they do something wrong themselves!

It was a stupid stunt. How hard would it have been to send out a media advisory an hour or two before the fly-by?...
Better yet -- why didn't they do it early on a Sunday morning when the financial district is more or less abandoned?....
This may have been the "backup" aircraft, but there are supposed to be two VC-25's at ADW when POTUS is in DC. When POTUS is outside DC, the backup is supposed to be on warm standby.
Should they need to evac and the primary a/c fails, having the backup flying around NYC doesn't do a lot of good.

Better yet why didnt they just use Photoshop. IMO this was an Obama ego boosting scheme to coincide with his 100 day circle-jerk-a-palloza that backfired.
