My only complaint, if you will, is the US "million miler" benefits are nil. US should really grant lifetime Silver or Gold, which is what AA, UA, DL/NW and I think CO all do. It's a cheap way to thank those that have flown that many "butt in seat" miles. Again, this is my only complaint with US at this point.
AA -- All earned miles (including credit card miles + bonus miles) count toward 1MM status, which gives you lifetime Gold (equivalent to US Silver). 2MM gives you lifetime Platinum (equivalent to US Gold). I'm not sure if there's a level beyond 2MM.
UA -- Only butt-in-seat miles flown on UA metal (i.e. not partner airlines) count towards 1MM, but you get lifetime Premiere Executive (equivalent to US Gold).
CO -- All EQM's count, and 1MM gets you lifetime Silver. 2MM gets you lifetime Gold. 4MM gets you lifetime Platinum. Plus, when you hit 1MM, your spouse or SO living at the same address also gets whatever your earned status is for that year. In other words, if you are Platinum when you cross the 1MM threshold, your spouse will also be Platinum. If you drop down to Gold the following year, your spouse will be Gold. If you do not re-qualify for any status the year after that, you will still be Silver, as will your spouse.
DL -- Not sure what their 1MM program entails.
US -- When you earn 1MM butt-in-seat miles, you get a certificate from Doug Parker, and a lump of coal in your stocking if you don't qualify for status.
🙄
US, time to get with the 1MM program. I know I have over 1MM earned miles on US, and probably over 400K BIS miles, but all future flying on US will be credited to CO, so I can hit 1MM on a program which will give me a lifetime benefit.
