CALIFORNIA HERE WE ARE: JETBLUE EXPANDS SERVICE OUT OF LONG BEACH AND BURBANK

Low-fare airline to add flights Long Beach-Sacramento, Burbank-Orlando, FL and Burbank-Las Vegas

NEW YORK, (March 7, 2006) - JetBlue Airways (Nasdaq: JBLU) today announces new destinations from Southern California, featuring its award-winning service, 36 channels of DIRECTV programming and roomy, all-leather seats. .JetBlue will introduce service between: Long Beach, CA and Sacramento, CA, effective May 3; and starting June 30, between Burbank, CA and Orlando, FL; and Burbank and Las Vegas, NV.

“Our Southern Californian customers have been asking us to serve more destinations since we first entered the market in Long Beach nearly five years ago,†said David Neeleman, JetBlue’s Chairman and CEO. “With these new routes, they’ll have even more chances to take advantage of our low fares and award-winning service.â€

“A big part of economic development is understanding the region’s opportunities for economic growth. The Greater Los Angeles market represents a mix of industry clusters that has some similarities to the Metro Orlando market. That overlap includes strengths in sectors such as entertainment production and digital media,†said Jonathan Gemmen, Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission’s Director of Business Development. “This new direct route being added by JetBlue is just another way for our local businesses to capitalize on these opportunities, stimulating additional economic growth in both of our regions.â€

Just when I though JBlu was done adding capacity in money losing city pairs, they attack SWA. Get Dave some meds NOW!! Seriously, that BUR-MCO leg will be fun to watch as it slowly climbs over the city with a full load of gas.... Maybe the strategy is to finally get the airport closed.

jetBlue has been doing it to JFK all year with few problems to date. A special climb and engine out proceedure custom tailored for jetBlue has incresed the max takeoff weight and the "fuel critical" flights are a thing of the past.

MCO should be no problem.

Didn't realize that. If you can make JFK, then you're right, MCO won't be an issue. Does the JFK flight only go in the AM also?

Nope, 4 flights a day with more on the way. BUR is working out nicely. Watch for more in the future. :)
Flights are usually capped at around 150 pax. This allows the Captains to add fuel and / or pax as needed. 156 pax has been safely done before. This may change a little come summertime.

I was stunned to see B6 enter the BUR-LAS market with just 1 r/t. SWA and B6 should be able to co-exist without any bloodshed on this route for now. If B6 tries to add frequency, look for those $29 fares to show up. just my thoughts........

BUR-FLL is on the way too, probably by December. DBurbank has done remarkably well for jetBlue.

Are they moving any 190s out West for those shorter hops, or will it be all 320s? Can't ever tell... recent press releases don't talk about a/c types nor does the booking engine specifiy a/c until you've purchased and get the seat map.

190s are staying East. You can tell when a flight is a 320 or 190 by looking at the flight number. 190 flights are four digit flight numbers, 320 flights are three digit.

Not always true, at least if a flight started out as a 190 route and switched permanently to a 320... they've kept the four-digit number (e.g. a couple of JFK-BOS trips and I think BOS-PBI).

ANY aircraft can fly ANY route at ANY time. JBLU has the flexibility to switch aircraft on a route to meet demand.
You will see alot of seasonal changes of aircraft ex. 320 JFK-FLL in winter, 190 JFK-FLL in summer.

Hope this helps clear things up a bit.
