3rd Quarter Numbers

despite being continually accused of being a koolaid drinker, I will point out that there was solid progres in these numbers. DL's revenue improved more than costs and DL was much more efficient. Proves my point that DL had a plan going into bankruptcy - which was precipitated by a liquidity crisis due to credit card holdbacks more than anything. There's still work to do to get operating results on the positive side and DL has to get costs down even lower but they are addressing both revenue and costs in a balance they haven't had before.

sorry wt. the progress i see in these numbers is the wrong direction. time to cash in my ff miles.

show me a statistic, kiowa, that is not at least in line with what other carriers reported the first quarter after bankruptcy. actually, show me a carrier that showed as much improvement two weeks after filing since that is when the quarter for these numbers ended. You can't because no other airline has shown as much improvement in their controllable performance so soon after filing... because DL had a plan going into BK.

Actually if you take out all the special write downs associated with the Chpt 11 filing and use last fall's fuel price, the numbers are pretty good. The changes that were put into place were working with that fuel price.

I donated mine. I saw no reasonable expectation that I could ever use them. The balance was well under any award level.

you do realize that no major airline frequent flyer program miles have been lost event though several airlines have gone out of business? frequent flyer programs are usually a coveted asset that are sold with the assets of a company. The frequent flyer programs of Eastern, Pan Am, and TWA among others were absorbed into airlines which are still operating.
